Deliciously ironic given the number of "I doubt there will be Pascal cards at MSRP" posts I've seen.

it's not even released yet, wait for launch and then you can say that. at least amd didn't announce 2 price for same thing. wink.gif
post #125 of 280
yeah the kind vendors will definitely lower the prices to $199+ on Polaris launch day thumb.gif

cause they're such nice people tongue.gif

although - can you buy directly from AMD homepage like you can buy Founders from Nvidia store ? it should be $199 there at least ?

199$ is the 4GB version and 250$ is the 8GB and then because it's Sapphire it comes to 286$. Where is the confusion?

I know i recommended to a friend building a PC now that wants a €300 max card to wait until the end of the month so we see the prices of RX480, since he was debating getting a 380.

However I have a 290X. I game on a 144hz 1080p monitor (its an Asus VG2780HE) for now and I am trying to decide if a 480, 1070 and 1080 is the way to go. I've always gotten the "high-end" (8800GTX, 4870x2, GTX580, 290X) of their time and keeping them for 2-3 years so the high price of 1080 isn't out of norm (although higher than usual), however the purchase is only good as long as the 480 and the 1070 don't pressure the 1080.

Alternatively if the 480 IS an upgrade to my 290x i might just get one to keep me over until VEGA and big Pascal. Your thoughts? smile.gif

480 is a small upgrade over a 290X and an even smaller one over an OCed 290X

1070 is a decent upgrade at a bigger price

1080 is IMHO overkill for 144Hz 1080p

Big Pascal or equivalent Vega is definitely overkill for 144Hz 1080p
