In other words, like every other platform ever.
You know, like timed exclusive games and/or DLC on the Xbox and/or PS4? It makes its way everywhere eventually but is "exclusive" for the first month. A very common practice in the industry to try and drive sales of a particular platform, and basically a non-story. Except Facebook did it, and they're evil.
Coming from you, just no.
They're trying to do exclusives on a peripheral, not a platform. A platform can run itself like PS4, Xbox One, etc., the Oculus Rift does not, it needs the PC to run on at all.
That's like saying Battlefield 1 can only be played on ASUS ROG monitors and nothing else, this is the first time that anyone knows of that a peripheral is even locking software to itself.
Fancy and complicated and new VR may be, the current PC-based incarnations still, again, require a beefy PC to even run any HMDs at all.
One more thing, the Vive games can run on the Oculus Rift through OpenVR, with the Rift for now using either Leap Motion, Razer Hydras, or Playstation Move controllers.
The idea here is to have a free ecosystem of HMDs and controllers united under a single VR, not one HMD only.
Oh, there's even more than that. Giant Cop was a Vive game that was almost finished to release, and was already played by famous Youtubers on the Vive. Then,
all of a sudden, Oculus paid them off for timed exclusivity and all of a sudden, no Vive release at all. AND this was after the fact that the Humble Bundle preorders were promised the Vive version.
Who knows how long until Touch releases, and how long before the artificial exclusivity ends?
These redditors are not stupid, they see BS when they see it, myself as well.Edited by ChronoBodi - 6/15/16 at 10:20pm
