I'm looking forward to the DX12 gaming results. I think here it could punch a fair bit harder than its current pecking order , all we have seen so far is DX11 synthetic stuff which is ok but not where its going to shine.

True. Even if this card only matches my 290x I'll probably pick one up just to enjoy the lower power draw and size reduction. Really cant complain about my 290x performance at 1440p with the exception of a handful of titles. Then again, I don't use AA as I find it makes the image blurry.

AMD RX 480 Rivals R9 Nano, GTX 980 – Runs At 1266Mhz, ~60c Degrees & Draws ~100W

And this is real, believe it...yesterday i said there was some AMD shock & awe incoming the next day, there it is, I also have confirmed this true by a brother that has one now too.

Isn't that more or less what was expected? I wouldn't really call it shock and awe.

After some of the other underwhelming leaks I gather most were expecting ~390X performance.

We've had rumors anywhere from 390 to Fury X performance, so hitting the 390X/980/Nano level is more or less in the middle of the expectation window. Heck, look 7 posts up and it's supposedly at 1070 level with OC.

In my opinion, if the card truly performs at roughly Fury levels, and can hit 1400-1500 on air with similar scaling to hawaii (.9~.95) the 1070 and 1060 are going to be awful p/p. Considering that Pascal scales poorly when oc'd vs GCN scaling, the 480 has HUGE potential to come within 5% to 10% of a stock 980ti/1070 depending on the game. In the best case scenario that one of the higher leaked benchmark scores are true, this card could potentially break the GPU market.

I know, I know, lots of ifs

1266 isn't that much of a jump in clock speed for the new node, so either they are having trouble getting the clocks higher or they are leaving a lot of room for overclocking. We've heard rumors for both scenarios at this point, so I guess it's wait and see.

Edit: or the chip gets really power inefficient at higher clock speeds and they are limiting it due to the power draw.

It's unexpected to those assuming stock 480 draws 150W and not a Watt less. Several quite active 480 thread posters are among that group.
