Price Gouging on eBay - Page 2

Many of the prolific Chinese vendors fall under this category although I've seen "vendors" pulling this deceptive practice from elsewhere. I've learned that if an item shows it ships from the US, not a specific place in the US, to stay away from that vendor and find the item elsewhere. I now avoid Chinese vendors whenever possible because of this despicable practice and because so many of them lie that an item has shipped when, in fact, it hasn't shipped yet. I had four vendors in a row claim to have shipped an item which they later admitted, after I got after them about it, that they had been out of stock all along, all four using almost identical wording to explain why they were out of stock. These lowlifes also list under names other than the actual names of their "companies", frequently changing those names to avoid bad vendor reviews pulling down their ratings.

There are also some Chinese scammers showing up now on eBay that list items for sale that they do not actually have who take your money, say it may take over a month to deliver, then just keep your money and never deliver. Since most people won't complain until after the 30 day time limit set by eBay to file a complaint, these lowlifes can get away it. When I can find something I need only from Chinese vendors, I avoid the ones that have a delivery date range that is longer than just under a month so I will have a window, albeit a narrow one, that I can complain to eBay about nondelivery.

It's the same when I order from Amazon. They are depending on their reputation of being the low price leader when, in fact, they are no longer always the low price leader. I frequently find items I've found on Amazon to be cheaper elsewhere. I completely avoid the Chinese vendors in Amazon's Marketplace unless their merchandise is fulfilled by Amazon (meaning the merchandise is warehoused and shipped by Amazon).

Not all Chinese vendors are bad. I bought some seeds from a girl in China and the posting said 300 but she gave me 350 and gave me an extra packet of totally different seeds that said "best wishes from the Chinas". If that isn't nice then I don't know what is, lol.
But of course seeds aren't phones.

I never said all of them are bad but enough of them are I'm very cautious about ordering from them. The biggest reason I avoid them whenever possible is it just takes so long to get things across that little bit of water between us (and God forbid a package goes through LA Customs, aka the USPOS Package Black Hole).

Nobody said that you should. It's not your prerogative what other people list items for. You have cheaper options so use them.

I'd also like to note that I've had really great experience with probably 50 different Chinese sellers. Particularly with buying anything electronic. Not only is the price nearly half that of the same product in the US but they tend to have great communication when you get past the broken english. The only downside is that shipping tends to take a long time (obviously) but even then it's often free.
