According to the leaks 480 is equal to the 980 in terms of DX11 performance ... then it should win in DX12 and be better than 980 in terms of temperature and power draw.

So albeit it's not a big upgrade it still is and if a person can sell his 980 for slightly less or equal to the RX480 then it's a win.

In addition the RX480 will have better performance in the next year while the 980 will soon get gimped by Nvidia's own software updates.

Even more one could get a 8GB version of RX480 smile.gif

You can mock me, copy screenshots of me, what ever, but I have yet to be proved wrong about the 480. I admit a great deal of my info comes from my older brother that is in the industry but who cares? At least I give "real" estimates that come to fruition. I want to point out though that the 480 is only capable of this when overclocked but they OC like a dream, especially the 6+8 pin shock & awe models.

PS: KMoamm - next time look in the mirror, I know your watching. biggrin.gif

Can you clarify what you mean - 'only capable of this' do you mean Fury X level performance or the 480 requires an OC to get to just above 980 levels?

oh man , 1070 is a side grade but anyone who says that is a butthurt 980ti owner.

now same thing with 480, but apparently these are the same people who were calling 980ti owners " butthurt" hahaha ..

so who is being a butthurt now ? lol

to 980Ti ? of course it is

arguably you shouldnt even upgrade to 1080 from a 980Ti

980Ti is just that good, as per usual for a top Nvidia card redface.gif

but from anything below 980Ti, 1070 is an upgrade thumb.gif

For benchers, the 980 Ti is still a clear choice since it can go 4 way considering its wider memory bus. And, that could be why the 1070 and 1080 can only go 2 way.

In gaming, surround 4K, for example . . . then Titan X is king.

Man, this reminds me of the 970. lol

How does this card compare to my R9 290? I haven't seen any benches include the two.

Or better yet, what will this card do to 290 prices? Maybe I can snag another for 100 bucks and go to town.

hahahaha biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif thats on par with the "multi GPU is the only way to go" line

Titan X is pretty much just a "get 980Ti X months earlier for $1000" card, it was obsolete as soon as 980Ti came out, its nothing now

3 and 4-way SLI is so bad that in games, 2x 1080 > 3 or 4 Titan X

1080 is your new King redface.gif until 1080Ti

RX470 for $150 will match 290.
