Half full or half empty, either way it's the same thing.

I don't really have an issue with either approach. I buy new hardware when new hardware is available so I could care less. The only problem is people chastising each other over their choices. It seems silly to me but it's like people think that if you buy Nvidia hardware you must be some mindless victim of marketing who isn't able to think for yourself. In reality it's just a preference, like wearing reebok's instead of nike, marketing is involved no matter who you choose.

Not on this forum, but I've definitely seen/heard enough people in real life buy nVidia because "nVidia has the fastest card, so everything is better than AMD's" to not dismiss that notion outright.

Just sold my 970 for 210 on ebay, but the average price asked for seems to be more like 170~180

I guess my point is that both sides are subject to marketing hype. Green or red koolaid, one tastes like tessellation and the other tastes like async, both are just colored water.

Well, how many people went over to AMD for async?

My point was that when you have the performance crown, people can and do make some very wrong assumptions that make it very hard for the competition to get through to them.

At least double that. Used are selling on amazon for $240-300

Don't need it, but if true, wonder if I should put the 980 for sale and grab some new tech.

Probably not much of a gamble. It will be close enough to the 980 one way or the other and you get some extra vram and the chance to get an adaptive sync monitor without losing an organ.

I would. Even if RX480 is similar speed you get to have the latest DX12 card, lower power consumption and play with new tech.
