[WCCF] AMD RX 480 Rivals R9 Nano, GTX 980 - Page 33

That demo was also done with prerelease drivers so who knows how well the CF scaling was?

I would understand that, if it was a third party, unbiased benchmark.
But neither AMD or Nvidia would show something worse than what the GPU can do at stock clocks.
If the drivers aren't ready, they would show you a prediction, but they wouldn't let people see their card underrated.

It was very early. The only point was showing the victory. I'm just saying there's every reason to believe that release day performance could be even better. Will have to wait and see.

I really, really hope it goes well. Market needs it. thumb.gif

I am still trying to wrap my head around the reason why they choose to show 480 CF against a 1080gtx. While its not supposed to be targeted against a 1080gtx as a gpu. I wish they would have compared it to a more realistic single GPU. I realize the idea of a 1080gtx being a top performer of currently released cards, maybe they felt the need to fend it off some with CF. I think single gpu benchmarks would have been a better route. Perhaps its creating more suspicion than answers. I always take AMD generated benchmarks and Nvidia generated benchmarks with a grain of salt as well.

I think in the long run the CF benches won't hold any water as people spending 200$ on a gpu aren't even going to consider buying two. People who would be in the price range of two 480s would most likely just go for a single 1080/1070 in that case.

I really hope so too but it could still go either way at this point.

I just skimmed over the last dozen or so posts, but if four 480's beat two 1080's then AMD wins, right?

Please don't go above dual GPUs. For your own good.
