its like cars, a lot of people like to talk about porsche, lamborgini etc..really fast cars but then they buy something entierly different.

Exactly people buy based on what they think make sense..

Some can afford high end car but still get a toyota since it simple and reliable.

The difference with cars is I'd buy a Porsche if I could afford it.

With GPUs I can afford a GTX 1080, but I don't think it wise to buy a card that is so expensive only to turn a few settings a notch higher. It's like 700€. It's still a lot of money and my gaming experience doesn't get that much better by it.

The last 45 hours of my gaming time I played Final Fantasy IX at 20fps !! and my GPU sits at 0% usage lol biggrin.gif

That and after about a year and a half a diesel Jetta with 300,000 miles on it (GCN) starts to overtake it on the freeway tongue.gif

The past month or so I've been using my 980 Ti to get >200 FPS in indie games. Proof that 980 Ti is indeed capable of 144Hz @1440p. biggrin.gif

Found this on one of our vendors websites at work. Waiting to hear back on more info.

***note this isn't a public vendor and their list prices are usually a little higher than what you find at amazon for example, but they knock some of the price off when you get a quote***

Open image and click on, view original.

Edit: Looks like this place has some preorders going. Never used them though so not sure how good they are.

Edit 2: Vendor said she isn't getting them in stock until the beginning of July. Looks like I will be keeping an eye out.

I guess as an immediate response, Nvidia can always further price drop 980 and 980Ti to keep people from switching to AMD. I would guess that Nvidia can still procure more of these 28nm cards. Even then, given Nvidia's track record of limited driver prioritization for previous gen cards, and lack of dx12 capability for Maxwell, I am not certain if people would be tempted to purchase a Maxwell card now. I know that I wouldn't, but I have been surprised before, so who knows how receptive the market may be to an "upgrade" to a last gen card.... Lol
