Is it not a regular ATX? It looks the same size as my Z97 board from the PCH heatsink. It's a nine inch card (with that cooler) I thought.

I didn't say it was big (although honestly it is since it's a full size card even though it could be much smaller), just that it looks big in that picture.

Must be to help improve the cooling. Either that or they wanted to save money by reusing previous gen coolers.

They are probably going to use those shrouds for many cards in the upcoming range and have them all at one uniformed length/width for cheaper production and packaging costs.

Yeah and it will leave more options for custom cards from AIB's, AMD would just lose making all sorts of different coolers.
