[WCCF] AMD RX 480 Rivals R9 Nano, GTX 980 - Page 9

I'll need a blower style cooler as I want 2 of these cards in my Corsair Air 240 case so I hope they are not loud and hot cards. Shouldn't be that hot if power draw is 100W each at stock but then I want to OC too thumb.gif

No, look at GTX 1080 reference cards for those attributes. thumb.gif

Lets hope they do not put a small heatsink under that shroud(I want as much cooler as it can take).

Well the PCB is small and the shroud extends out a lot longer than the PCB itself. Looks similar to the ratio of the Sapphire fury card, Hopefully that means a slightly oversized heatsink.

I bet they'll get loud with two OC'd in a small case lol. Never know I suppose, but it's rare that a reference card would be over engineered enough for that kind of thing as they would lose money.

I think everyone caught with a gtx980 or gtx970 are going to have a lower devalued selling value or might find it harder to sell with RX 480's under $200.

why would you sell 980 when 480 isnt even an upgrade to it ? thumb.gif

Prolly, just saying, 'cause soon it will not have proper support?

But i agree, 980 to 480 is not an ideal move.

Two weeks ago when my older bro went to both AMD events, people said the 480 was 970 perf, I debunked that BS, then they said the 480 was inbetween 390x/980 perf, i debunked that too, now people are calling what i say as "hypetrain" yet I haven't been wrong yet, although while others been wrong over and over before. You can mock me, copy screenshots of me, what ever, but I have yet to be proved wrong about the 480. I admit a great deal of my info comes from my older brother that is in the industry but who cares? At least I give "real" estimates that come to fruition. I want to point out though that the 480 is only capable of this when overclocked but they OC like a dream, especially the 6+8 pin shock & awe models.

PS: KMoamm - next time look in the mirror, I know your watching. biggrin.gif

I've been told its hanging around that 1070 stock clocks in actual games. Like i said before...AMD has a pretty sick chip on hand with this 14nm node along with its IPC gains they put in to GCN. It's gonna prove remarkable soon. My brother knows two guys that have a 6+8 pin from a certain AIB partner and what we've seen thus far is just scratching the surface in terms of how well these "Beast Mode" cards can OC. Again, its in reaching distance of 1070. I said this weeks ago when my brother sent me some numbers when he was one of the guys invited behind closed doors at those two AMD events a few weeks back. Well now that he got a card handed to him from AMD and had ample time playing with it, the reference OC'd "REALLY GOOD but now his colleagues have two of the 6+8 pin AIB cards from a specific vendor and they said "We are literally going bonkers how well these 480's can OC"...their words not mine.

Internet never forgets biggrin.gif
so if true ownage of everything below the 1080 then seems to becoming true.

agh...2 weeks to go

Hey mate, I can agree with you on the 8+6 model, it OC like a dream. My friends who for some reason has access to one of these beast got 1500 MHz with just some slide in Crimson biggrin.gif

I reckon who interests in OC should aim for the 8+6. At that 1400 MHz range the efficiency is a bit off and the chip is power hungry, but it's damn fast and would be a steal at $299 price tag.
