I have a little experience with a couple z97 boards. I just attempted to purchase 2 Asus z97 pro-gamers from newegg open box and one was damaged while the other was faulty. That being said the bios was phenomenal and by far better than my current ASRock Extreme 4. The Extreme 4 is thicker than Asus and better build quality. The bios is crap in comparison but overall more then good enough to overclock with. I spent a long time looking at reviews n such for the Z97 lineup. The Pro Gamer really has the best features for a decent price, assuming you don't buy open box that would likely be one of the best bang for buck motherboards. ASRock is good for cheaper if you don't mind a more difficult bios with less features.

Really its all up to your preferred brand and preferred features. They all are fairly similar as far as the motherboard itself goes. Pick based on color/brand preference I am sure you wont be disappointed. If you can afford a jump to any of the Asus ROG series I am sure you wouldnt be disappointed with that either although it is usually a big price difference. I am very happy with how stable the Extreme4 is. Build quality is very nice I expect it to last me a long time considering its one of the cheaper z97 I am fairly impressed. Really enjoyed the Asus while I had it though. Kinda wish I had sent back for an RMA from Asus and got a refurbished.

This is really where you want to check before buying. Make sure the Mobo has at least a 6 (with a doubler) or 8 (no doubler is ok with 8+) minimum power phases and you are probably good. Most of the lower phase are not horrible they just are not generally recommended for overclocking on higher clocked cpu like the 4790k (there are a few exceptions such as the Asus Ranger).
