I'm just interested on how well they can OC and their power consumption numbers. Heck if it uses 50w less than my 970 and can do 10% better...might be worth it.

I think it will beat out the 980 and overclocked approach stock 980 Ti. The 29th can't come soon enough.

I laughed when I saw the price cut yesterday. Last week I sold my 980Ti to a fella for (what I estimate to be) $470, he could have a new 980Ti Hybrid for that now.

GTX 970 for $230 now too. But with the RX 480 only a couple weeks away it seems like a better deal to wait for that $200 card than buy one of these if you are trying to find those cheap GPU deals.

I should have sold mine earlier, oh well. Only issue is I'm on X99 so I need to go back to a mainstream CPU for the integrated graphics.

It's actually fact, us high end Maxwell users have had the pleasure of this performance for more than a year. Buying a 1070 or 1080 from a 980Ti or Titan X would be a really stupid move imo. Better off waiting for the big chip from Pascal and see a 40%-50% performance jump over a 1080. Christ Nvidia can't even get a HB bridge out until at least August and stocks of 1080 are virtually nil as it is.

Patience pays off, although if your running a 700 series the upgrade is worthwhile.

I don't think this is stupid. If one could sell 980Ti and get a 1070 for that money that's a smart move if they were anticipating a 1080Ti. Who's gonna buy your 980Ti in 2017 ? No one, unless you ask $200.

I think the person was making the argument whether to purchase the 980 Ti at the discounted price or a 1070 at retail price. I don't think the initial claim was for those who already have high-end maxwell cards. If a person already owns a higher end Maxwell card, purchasing a Pascal card at this point wouldn't make any sense.
