Cant wait for a decent price cut here in NZ. Cheapest 980ti is still $799.

The price cuts won't be dramatic until 1070s are actually in stock at most etailers.

It's a blessing and a curse that the Titan X is retaining its value. On one hand I can sell my card today for $700. On the other hand I can't cheaply go SLI like how 980 Ti owners can.

I mean I could sell my TX for $700 and pretty much pick up 2x 980 Tis for what I would get off of it but I would be down to 6GB of VRAM. I would come very uncomfortably close to that with my install of Skyrim.

Instead we've got the AIB Partner versions of the 1070 at £425-ish and the 1080 at £640-ish, what the hell?... Made me think, the 1080Ti will come in at £750-800-ish, which is ridiculous.

I don't understand why people aren't folding their arms and refraining from buying en-masse, while going bonkers on forums worldwide, until they realise they're taking the piss and adjust prices accordingly. Instead, people are going for it like a dog for peanut butter on... Anything.

thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

It's nice to see new 970's at £240 (down from 300-ish), and the 980Ti at £420, means I'll be able to nab a used one for around 300 before the 1080Ti is launched, if I so wanted and SLI.

I'll grab my daughter a 960 or 970 soon, too.

But what do you expect?
If AMD's 480 was better than the 1080, do you think AMD would have still price it at 200$? Do you really think there are selling cards as good gesture?

As long as people are will to pay, and as long as those cards are the best in the market, and as long as making them does cost Nvidia a good penny, those cards will be sold at their maximum price people will be willing to pay, no matter how many OCN members say "omg that card is so overpriced!!!11!!!". There will still be twice as many members willing to put out the price regardless of how much overpriced they think the card is.

And that is how the market works. Prices are being by performance compared to competition, and what the market will be willing to pay.
If all the 1070/1080 cards buyers would say "no chance, not paying that much", the cards will drop in price by 100$ at least. But that is not how things work. And if someone is willing to to shell 800 euro for a 1080 FE for day one purchase, that is how much the card will be sold.

If you don't like the current prices, don't buy. Eventually they will reduce in price, or next series will give similar performance at a lower region of prices, and you can get the same performance for cheaper. You are not willing to wait, there you go.

maybe, just maybe they want/need that kind of GPU power now (and not in 2017) and can afford it

crazy idea, I know

Price drop in every country except AUS/NZ i see. I think im done with Nvidia tbh.

A gtx 1070 costs the same as what a gtx 4/5/6/7/980 cost at launch, with the gtx1080s now costing more than a Ti. Mid range...now costs more than previous gens high end.

Edit: Though this is founders prices, granted.
