And there's the crux of the whole issue. Different people play games with different intentions, some people play primarily for challenge and others play primarily for relaxation. I think the values that people place on different aspects graphical rendering tend to be connected to their intentions in playing.
Battlefield 2142 is nothing by todays standards, nor BF2... but both will show off what a player has, or is missing.
It is incredible how ignorant people are today, don't even know why they like certain games, or even able to discern their genre. Matter of fact, most Gamers today were not drawn to these games.... they have been born into them, as game commercials today are everywhere & have star actors in them. (You didn't see this 15 years ago.)
So most (gamers) are just following the masses and probably play mobile strike and other garbage like that too. Ironically, younger players today are not PLAYING these games, they are "trying" them. As these younger genlings are programed not to stick with anything, or own anything. Just consume... and high five their lemming friends.
Thus, most of their gameplay is one of passing time, and for entertainment or relaxation. Where as the "older crowd" played to compete and the challenge these games presented, or for the sport of it, etc. Subsequently, "older people" have the means to entertain themselves is many ways... & they are not resorting to inside events that cost peanuts per year to play, because they are limited.
Battlefield 1 @ $79 per account.... brings in a different crowd than BF1 @ $150 for an account. The higher up you go in price, the more people start looking past the graphics and at the platform itself.
The ideology is, if you have to INVEST MORE into your game account, it is because you have something at stake. ergo: When you are conditioned as a throw away buyer & always looking for the next thing, you never have anything at stake. (ie: too risky if they are not a good player, or get caught cheating, etc or have to put the game down).
I mean right...? Didn't you (not you) just buy a game on a whim from steam, for $12 bucks..? And last month, didn't you buy 2 games during the summer sale... that you've been waiting on, and you grabbed one for $15, when everyone else last year paid $49.
Daddy... why is battlefield $50 more than discounted games on steam..?
Xbox is growing up...
Scorpio is for the competitive gamer, not for those who play Nintendo..
