[jd] XFX RX480 8GB pictured with official specifications ? (update) - Page 13

I had a XFX black edition 7950 and it was utter crap. Cooler was bad and fans were loud. Ended up getting a turboduo cooler from 280x and it made the card much better in regard of acoustics . thumb.gif

I wonder how loud this blower will be. Looks really nice, but perhaps there is a leafblower sound hiding htere...

Ive already seen half a dozen aib 1080 cards that aren't even on threads on this site yet. Because its amd all hell breaks loose lol. Personally if this wasnt a new thread i wouldnt have seen it even though i know what the pcb already looks like from other threads this is now confirmation that the core clock is indeed above 1200mhz.

P.S. Absolutely hilarious it comes with a 6pin to molex adapter, i can't remember the last card that came with that lol.
I hope the AIB cards will have 1x8pin. Or the card is not power hungry and the 1x6pin is enough along with the power capacity available in the HW and SW to not draw more than the PCIe and 6pin can provide. There already was a wanna be leak of top tier version with 8+6pin, so we will see what the AIBs come up with, I bet they will move VRM and make the PCB cards bigger.

PowerColor was often the cheapest AMD card, but lately they did make some good cards. But I will go with Sapphire again. I think they make the best cooling solutions, including nVidia only partners.

nah msi twin frozr coolers have always been the best

That MSI hype is getting into MSI's head. To me the only difference between same sized coolers is really how much RPM the fans run at and how big they are. otherwise all the damn GPU coolers have often enough pipes and find to be equal. And those 1-2C differences in reviews are minimal.

Depends on the card, for the r9 390 its a god awful cooler right down to the VRM. Its so bad in fact that ekwb had to make a waterblock for it haha.

My sapphire nitro cooler was great on the r9 390, stayed below 74°C and VRMs in the mid 60s. Now on water core has yet to reach 45°C and VRMs are between mid 50s and low 60s.

Sapphire and GigaByte were beating MSI 290's in both temperature and noise. I don't like MSI since GTX 5xx series. I think they got much of the market-share and then stopped trying, imo

ASUS is another brand I don't see buying. They try even less. And their 290 was by far the worst one.

Everything Asus is the worse one haha. I would love LOVE to know why here in France they charge an extra 40€ for a founders edition 1080.

They reused a cooler from another card which was mismatched with the 290 chips and wasn't providing correct heat transfer from the chip to the cooler. A known issue for the 290 DC2 or what it was.
