[jd] XFX RX480 8GB pictured with official specifications ? (update) - Page 27

Serious question here, wouldn't a DVI --> HDMI cable work just fine for most potential buyers of this card? It should at least work for a 1080P screen, no idea if that would work for 1440P though.

There is a cable which does what dual link dvi did or done, so I don't get what's the problem
Right now in the online deals section is a monitor that only supports dvi dl, posted today. A lot of people use it. The snobbery in this thread is rampant.

$50 adapter for a $200 card. I wanted to get two of these and the reference blower works better for that type of configuration. This seems like another poor management decision on AMD's part.

Lighten up francis

DVI can output HDMI signals, not sure about HDMI 2.0 though.

HDMI plug is only single link. So HDMI -> DVI only gets you single link.

DVI can not use the high speed clock of the HDMI 2.0 standard, so it gets 1/2 the bandwidth from the same number of data channels.

DVI is legacy at this point, regardless if you can buy screens with it still or not. You will see it go away in the next 1-2 generations, at least as a native connector on mainstream cards.

Then buy a $700 1080 for your precious DVI connector. Most people aren't going to care about lack of DVI (except those who are simply trolling AMD like you)...

I need a DVI as well for my X-Star. I wanted to hold on to my X-Star till HDR monitors started coming out.

I believe it's been stated that these cards WILL have DVI on AIB cards, just not the reference design.

Wait for an AIB card with DL-DVI, find an adapter, get a cheap DP monitor to hold you till HDR hits the shelves.

lol, $50 DP monitor.

Someone disagrees with you call them a troll. It's clear as day there are a lot of people affected by this. But since you're not, it's not a problem and we should all just take it.

Those who have a Korean monitor can try this adapter with fairly good reviews and cost $18.88.

Seems to work with QNIX monitors well.
