Yup, I agree completely. The 1070 hovers in the high 50s and low 60s on some games, give it a year, and performance will be even worse - which is why I've decided to just settle on a reference model RX 480 for the time being (it'll be used to game on my TV rather than monitor), and then when the 1080 Ti and Vega come out, I'll consider dropping $1K+ on a GPU.

Pretty ironic how nothing can really keep up with my 1980s 1440p Korean monitor but a 1080 right now. If there weren't relatively new monitors on the market that had DVI, I'd be all for obsoleting it but that isn't the case. The hivemind has spoken, though.

I see a 980 Ti classified on Newegg for $449.99. I am so tempted to buy that. I need a better video card, and the 1070 isn't doing it for me.

I agree with you. That Classified is very tempting.

Perhaps if your running a game at 144pbat absolute max settings. But at say max settings minus AA and a texture setting I'm betting a 480 will happily do 1440p.

Heck my 2 970s at 1440p would constantly be at top fps (96) on games but with AA off. I personally saw no improvement aesthetically with AA on or off. I don't see why people run it since it needs so much horsepower

So the xfx is 1300+ mhz at stock... I still have hope for the OC potential... i mean with recent leaks claiming max oc's are in the mid 1300's that would make this card the worst overclocking card in the history of gpus lol... just don't see that happening. Judging by the gpuz screen, i feel like the board power on the reference may be hindering the potential though.
Sorry AMD

88C at 58% fan speed also. What happened to temps in the 60s?
