So time came and my intel i7 3770k died it wasnt as stable trough out its left frown.gif lot of sound distortion but nobody could find a error in the chip and warranty bounced a lot of times.

But now he threw the towel in the ring and gave me the finger frown.gif.

But now my funding aint as it used to be so im forced to go team red tongue.gif, But i have totaly NO idea what to buy

I game a lot 1440P.
I listen to music a lot and stream things of my home Nas.
i some times use 3d studio max and thats about it.

Gaming at 1440P is a must tho.

Now the part i am pulling out of the corpse of my old machine are
32 gigs of ddr3 corsair dominator 1866 Memory 4 bars of 8 gig.
780TI evga * also on its last leg waiting for Polaris*
Asus Strix sound card
256 850 evo ssd
4x 3 tb seagate's

and i got a H80i gt corsair cooler if i can re buy the amd socket for it.

what whould you guys advise me remember im on a budget mostly.
My eyes are falling on the FX 8350 Cpu
and the mobo;s im looking at are the
990X gaming from gigabyte
Msi 970 gaming

but as i read everywhere motherboards do make a difference for amd unlike intel frown.gif
so i wanted some good advice
Instead of 8350, get 8320e or 8300 (whichever you find cheaper) and ASUS 970 Pro Gaming AURA. It's brand new model and sports USB 3.1 and M2, which most other AMD motherboards don't.

It's very good motherboard for the money. All 8320e or 8300 should be able to hit 4.5Ghz easily.

Because unless you are completely incapable of overclocking, the lower frequencies costs less, so you can buy a better motherboard with the same money. 4Ghz overclock, is a walk in the park. Even i, run at 4Ghz and FX is the first CPU i ever bothered to overclock, exactly because it's so easy and with the turbo high, there is little reason why not run at 4Ghz. The 8350 makes more sense for people who are completely unable to enter in BIOS and change a multiplier and a voltage.

The AURA also has 2xUSB 3.1. THe Gigabyte 990X Gaming is fine, but Gigabyte BIOS is notoriously less userfriendly and often frankly buggy. But we have a member here with that board and it's fine. If you prefer 990X chipset, you can go for that Gigabyte. But, the main difference between 990 and 970 is in the ability to run 2 GPUs at x16. Otherwise, there isn't much point.

EDIT: Here's a comment from a Gigabyte Gaming owner (Hurricane).

awesome thanks for the link ^^

and ya i been looking at the chip sets as thats the most new to me.
past me was always dont care give me the fastest and be fast about it now i have to work with a budget >< * living on your own can bring such hassles but great rewards tongue.gif

*just read his post and he has the 990fx not the 990x version*

the fx version is about 40 euro's more expensive and it whould be a MSI 990fx then is it worth the 40 bucks to get 2x 16 lanes for crossfire i might need it for 2 480's in the future

Right, but they 're probably the same motherboard quality wise and Gigabyte almost never manages to make a perfect BIOS, so you should expect the same. If you want 2 GPUs, get the Giga 990X Gaming SLI.

Basically.

- 990FX Gaming is capable of SLI x16, x4
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5655#sp

-990X Gaming is capable of SLI x16, x8

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5774#sp

The AURA does x8,x8.

So, you 're better off with the 990X, although, from what i remember, even x8 x8 doesn't cut the performance.

ok will the 8x 8x lanes crossfire on the 990x be any limited factor vs the x16 x16 cross fire lanes of a 990fx

cause that is haunting me atm only i gues ^^

Even the 990 chipsets can't do x16 x16 on BOTH the cards. The 990X Gaming does x16 x8, which is the best scenario. Wait for some gamer for confirmation, but i *think* that x8 x8 doesn't bottleneck either. But don't count on me 100% about that, cause i am no gamer and my knowledge of GPUs is very limited. You can also google it though, i am sure countless others before you had the same dilemma.

Oh wait! From the Giga 990X Gaming

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16_1 slot.
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8)
* The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. When the PCIEX8 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode.

So it also runs at x8 x8? I am confused in the way they write things.

GAMER NEEDED to sort this out!
