I've read online that it does throttle when it's overheating. what have you guys done to prevent that?

People put heatsinks on thiers like so:

I noticed a small difference in general loading times, both Windows and games but nothing earth shattering. Still a great device though and glad to have it. As for overheating, mine has not overheated as of yet and I do not have heatsinks on mine but mine is next to an exhaust fan which will help move heat away from it.

However in all honesty unless you have nil airflow in your case or really bad cable management then it should not overheat to a point where it starts to throttle speeds

i have zero airflow on that area (well maybe some from the gpu) where the m.2 slot is. s340 only has 4 fans and they're not running fast at all. do you guys know the heatsink that was used above? I'm allergic to the word "throttle"

I'm thinking of getting one of these as a boot drive for my gaming pc? is it much faster than my current TLC Mushkin SSD? is it worth it?

My 6 year old Plextor PX-256M5s beats it on Boot Time by 8 seconds, and loads games like GTA Online, faster, by 2 - 3 seconds...

Did the upgrade result in a noticeable improvement?

I put a 950 pro 256gb for my OS/games/apps , and my old SSD as storage. Runs great. Never even looked at temps, nor will I ever.

You just need to get some Ramsinks to stick on to the memory chips. You can either get thermal tape to stick them on or thermal adhesive. However the latter is permanent and you will never get the ramsinks back off without destroying the drive.

You can get all Copper ones that would transfer heat better...but in all honesty it will never create that much heat so even aluminum ones would suffice.
