Everyone's quick to bash the Wii U, or the 3DS, or Nintendo in general, and the games they make (first party games). Lack of third party support, blah blah blah.
The fact of the matter is that Nintendo makes good games, innovative games, and beyond that they are good for people with families, wives and children.
They are great for local multiplayer (I don't play competitive online shooters. That's like all anyone likes anymore.). I won't buy my kid an Xbox, not until he's older, but when they're young Nintendo is great for them. I would have no problem with them playing Nintendo. And as a plus, I love Nintendo's games myself.
Beyond that, I really wonder if some posters here have EVER played a Nintendo game, a Mario game, or if they've even played one in the last 15 years. Because every game is different and Nintendo constantly innovates and changes the gameplay. There's so many things that were done in Super Mario 3D World that had never been seen in a Mario game before. And Mario Kart 8 is fantastic. Look them both up on Metacritic and see how great the reviews were, MK8 has an 88 and SM3DW has a 93. Beyond that, there are great 2nd party developers like Monolith Soft, with Xenoblade Chronicles X. The Wii U has a distinct lack of 3rd party publishers, but have any of you detractors ever looked at the 3DS Eshop? Do you even own a 3DS? There's very strong support of the 3DS from pretty much every major gaming company.
And who the hell cares if the 3DS has a TN or IPS panel ? It's a 3DS!!!!
Does it really matter? For the 3D effect to work, you have to hold the thing directly perpendicular to your eyes anyway. I'm not going to be playing my 3DS directly from the side while underwater or something. The screen doesn't matter. So stupid!
The specs don't sell a system, and for the most part the graphics don't sell a system, the games do. Atari had Space Invaders, the NES had Super Mario Bros., Genesis had Sonic, and so on. It's called a killer app. The games are what drives the consoles to be sold in masses. Every console in history that was successful had a killer app and a good library of games, the ones that don't failed spectacularly (see Sega Master System and Atari 7800 vs the NES). As it stands, the Wii U has many strong games that make it worth owning. They just might not be what you like, but at least the system itself is unique and innovative.
What's anyone ever play on the damn Xbox and PS4 anymore? Does it even matter which one you have? They both get all the same games. And it's Assassin's Creed, COD, Halo, Battlefield, Far Cry, a new version every year or in the case of some series, multiple times a year (AC). Yay, shoot people in the head over and over for the millionth time. Yawn. It's crass gore porn. Beyond that, every other single fricken game is a first person shooter. Fallout, Borderlands, what's the difference? Supposedly they are RPGs. But I know differently.
Sorry, but I own Nintendo for a reason and have very little interest in the Xbox or PS4, yet they are supposed to be the "superior" systems simply based on hardware. They can't even do 1080p 30. I can play any of the (boring) shooter or violent Western games on my computer, though I rarely do anymore. Why? Because I'd rather play Mario than play Battlefield herp derp.
