[IGN] E3 2016: Nintendo Boss on NX: 'For Us, It's Not About Specs' - Page 25

Looks like skyrim for kids.
Well. I don't know about other adults, but, I know as a PC builder I'd take a Nintendo over an Xbone or PS4 any day of the week if I were only worried about gaming. Least Nintendo has some stand out titles and gaming experience that I can't easily get on PC. The only thing I'd take a Xbone or PS4 for would be Blu-ray and Netflix. My PS3 already does that fine for now.

For the record, no console/gaming pc is viewed as an adult thing.

Zero COD for me, it is an arcade shooter with no redeeming value. I now understand, your gen plays anything because your time is worth it. Coincidentally, I have never touched pokemon anything, nor sesame street. I use games to compete with others, and additionally in the nearly 40 years of gaming, single player titles have become pointless and all the same, just reskinned, re-themed. (ie: they offer nothing more than last gen, just nicer looking). More so, zero point to play a games solo, when my time can be spent in dynamic play, online.

I assumed most adults would rather have a real console, but I understand if you sacrificed because you have kids. Xbox/PS is a bit much for 9 year olds.

Therein lies the fallacy though. Maybe it's a generation gap or something, but you're attempting to tie a particular console or platform to an age group without the thought that maybe there's different strokes for different folks, irrespective of age. I play what I prefer, and I have several buddies who'd rather play FPSes considered to be "adult", and several who enjoy MMO's, and folks who'd rather drop coins on a Pacman cabinet. And several who like online play and several who like solo play. I actually lean toward online myself. You're correct that it is based on what the player values wasting their time on but it's not necessarily age and platform. I can frag heads on a Wii and play with blocks on a PS4 just as easily as I can do the opposite. And sometimes it's the kids who want to play the "adult" games and it's the adults who wanna play "kids" games, and then you really have to think, can you really call them kid or adult games? Or kid or adult consoles?

Also who said I have kids? I didn't, and I don't. You're making an awful lot of assumptions.

I'll also give you a point, single player is lacking these days, as that's just the result of making multiplayer so accessible, but it's still alive. Look at PC in particular for that. TONS of good indie titles and even some big budget ones that are innovative and that you can enjoy on your own.

I remember playing games for fun. And Nintendo games are fun. I play more single player games then online shooter type games. The online games that i play are racing games and fighting games. But been playing Wii U more then my PS4.

Even with FPS games like Battlefield I much prefer playing through a campaign with an actual story than just running around shooting at others online. But maybe that's the same reason I prefer movies with involving plot lines over action movies with nothing but mindless action scenes all the way through?

Not going to get into the COD vs Mario, PS4 vs Wii U stuff again. As stated, there are many reasons to own the Wii U, and mostly anything from PS4 I'd want to play I can play on my PC (in Eyefinity!). The Wii U games I cannot play on my PC (yet). Just Super Mario 3D World was worth my purchase of the Wii U, Xenoblade X and Mario Kart 8 only make it even better. Again, a system is about the software, not the specs.

As far as retro consoles vs emulation, there are good points and bad points of each. Emulation is great if you want to play Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Magical Chase, Flintstones Surprise at Dinosaur Peak, Musha or any number of very very very expensive games, without buying the physical media. Emulation also has none of the issues of consoles failing, cleaning cartridges, recapping systems, and so on and so forth. However, I own 24 game consoles and every one of them gets played. I have over 250 games on cart. I've done things to my NES (toaster) to make it work 99% of the time without blowing on cartridges, etc. I just so happen to run the OCN Retrogaming club here. I also have a modded original Xbox with probably 10000 games on it, the full romsets for NES, Genesis, SNES, Turbografx etc. along with video previews and box art. Yet, if I have a game for the original system I will hook up the original system and play the game on a CRT TV, what it was designed for. The experience is much better. And I like collecting classic systems, controllers, and games.

I hope you're still following this...

ZSNES Win supports TCP and UDP netplay in older versions (prior to 1.51). The last times I tried it, it worked, but you could run into issues with desyncing or disconnecting. It mostly depends on the game. The latest versions have the netplay dialog grayed out and you can't access the netplay menu. So try this. Keep in mind you need to open whatever port it uses in your firewall, and whoever you are playing with needs to do the same. Afaik this method doesn't use Kaillera or connect to an outside server, it's P2P.

There was a matching service for this back in the day called Zbattle.net and people would netplay mostly fighting games, I was one of the best Gundam Wing: Endless Duel players...thumb.gif

He has a valid point.

Unless there is a competitive aspect to the game, I need a story or some single player campaign to introduce the world to me.

Just running around to gain e-peen status isn't much of a motivation.

So, apparently N is working on a new idea. We have no clue what it is yet, but its going to make or break the NX.
