GTX 980 Ti 70C on XSPC Razor Block - Page 6

There is a mod that extends the front panel of the case out a few centimeters so more air can get behind that panel. It's only a few washers to extend the pegs that clip into the fan filter. It's not going to make a giant difference but with this case the more airflow the better.

I couldn't find the English write up version of it but found a YouTube video that's in a different language but he goes through the entire process and shows you how to do it.

So a "medium" fin density radiator i guess, teen'ish fpi? Shouldn't need super powerful fans for that since they're not thick rads. I thought the SP120s were hi rpm static pressure fans, powerful but LOUD. If that's right, I'm not sure you'd get better cooling performance out of different fans, maybe comparable cooling with less noise.

In each of your pictures, the direction you have your finger pointing is the direction of airflow thru the fan. The front is setup as intake and the top and back as exhaust.

What they said.
The intake side of fan is the side without braces, just fan blades showing.
The exhaust side of fan is side with braces holding the motor hub in the middle.

That video is a terrible way of doing it.
Styrofoam is too soft and the spacer needs to be the same length as part of bracket that touches cover.
I used the screws from wall socket ans switch screws and 2x pieces of wood cut 15mm x 22mm x 146mm with holes drilled to match; bigger on panel side to fit over screw mount and smaller for screws, but could be same size.

I read some reviews stating these are some good cheap fans:
https://www.amazon.com/XSPC-Xinruilian-120mm-1650-Cooling/dp/B006BA9I4W

Do you guys think these would give me an improvement over my current fan setup? I would only buy them for the radiators. So 5 of them. GT's would run my 109 from mod my mods to order them for the rads. These are obviously less than half the price.

Thanks!

Also thanks for helping me with the orientation. I'm just an idiot. redface.gif

Edit: I just put in an offer for 4 AP-15's on Ebay. Modmymod's is down. Hopefully i can snag these for a few bucks cheaper smile.gif

Edit 2: Just bought 6x AP-14's. Should make the PC quieter while at max speed smile.gif

I agree. I just couldn't find the write up I read where the OP used a molded plastic block.
