The gameplay is ok, not a fan of the combat system, it makes me feel like I'm playing Tomb Raider with the character having 2s reaction time. Feels a bit tunnel made when you get the chance to get to any open places but that at least helps you to not get lost in unimportant parts of the world.

For fun I've tried ReShade even though the iGPU totally can't run it but just to see how the game would look:

Imgur Album

Preset:
DreamfallTLJ.zip 49k .zip file

That looks pretty good considering age of the game.

Controlls (and graphics offcourse) in Dreamfall : Chapters are better but the engine is pretty demanding frown.gif

I've just checked a different scene from previous save game and it works well overall, it really makes trees, shadows, depth look much better. Of course since it's a "bolt on" DOF it doesn't track people in conversations and cinematics. Normally I don't like DOF and only use ReShade to add SMAA but for an old adventure game it can do "miracles".

Done. Thanks Farih.

Dreamfall TLJ seems 1/3 shorter than TLJ and easier. The end felt kind of bland, lots of cinematics, run and discover, the peak of the game was clearly before.
Now I gotta check if Dreamfall Chapters will run in the iGPU or decide to crawl.

---

Dreamfall: Chapters, yeah no chance with iGPU, everything at low or disabled, 10-25fps. There are still so many effects turned on in this Unity graphics engine.
Will have to wait until my dGPU is sorted out. Shame a shame.

Funny enough Steam lists the game as:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Minimum:
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2GHz or equivalent
Memory: 3 GB RAM
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Storage: 12 GB available space
Sound Card: Yes

But I can tell you right away, don't even try with Intel HD 4xxx.

I've started playing Deponia smile.gif
Quicksave/load doesn't seem to load, but rest works fine.
I bet the whole setting is all there is, no traveling just one big puzzle in one set/location, a shame.

I liked Deponia alot, not as much as Chains of Satinav, Memoria and Night of the Rabbit though.
Waiting for the newest Deponia episode to go on sale biggrin.gif

Got your GPU back yet ?

Back? Yeah from the first RMA which was DOA banged up like someone dropped it from 2nd floor right on the bottom of it's metal I/O panel Tech YES city style.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

2nd RMA... damn holidays last week, no further replies, so I sent the card back Thursday, arrived to the shop yesterday, still no email from them. I can't even RMA directly with ASUS because Europe frown.gif And I've found someone on ASUS forum from ASUS Taiwan CS that could actually make the RMA a bit faster if it was a personal RMA and I had all the info which identifies the RMA case.

I'm waiting now for AIB RX 480s to hit the market. Meanwhile I'll keep hammering the shop and ASUS with valid RMAs of that 280x until they give me either a working card of same or higher performance or money back. I'm not buying ASUS GPU again that's for sure, way too many issues with their GPUs, unstable OCs from factory, insufficient cooling, I don't know if it was only their AMD cards but it was enough issues on the 2xx series to make one remember ASUS as a bad choice. Unfortunately that only shows up over time and one doesn't get to know when buying. Their RMA is pathetic, there is no other word for it.

---

Deponia done, some of the puzzles make no sense, makes you run all across the maps there and back with some weirdo item, really glad there are guides for the games to not be stuck half a day at some silly game design thingy, I guess the classical adventure point&click design traps. Try to do something can't, try the same later and suddenly you can because some scripted stuff lets you.
Onto the next.

Chaos on Deponia, the gameplay and puzzles are truly chaotic... who ever coma up with that should be taken into the back alley and shot in both knees. Gotta travel around waaay too much, some puzzles make no sense at all, some even require you to change your sound settings, ... good luck getting this one done without any guide you'll end up random solving a few puzzles for an hour each or get completely stuck on some stupid gameplay design. Really takes the fun away having to run around and back ten times.

Man this game has one of the worst gameplay designs ever, so it throws a popup that is different style than the game so sure I try some options just for fun but the developer doesn't mean it as fun which isn't indicated, bang you lose all your progress. Now I'm really gonna shoot their developer in both knees. Luckily I have a manual save game from 1h earlier unlike the numerous people that used the same option for fun, seriously what retarded developer kills a character in adventure game with a single punch that happens in a chit chat dialog.
A word of advice for anyone, when you get to a scene with a bunch of dolphins save your game, just do it. They've added options there that can effectively erase all your progress if you don't have a saved game.

3rd Deponia is quite nice so far. No bugs either yet. The first two games seem to have some glitches here and there.
I think 3rd is the best so far but that transfer of items between controllable characters gets annoying. Also getting stuck and not knowing which of the 3 characters has to perform something is truly awful, especially when that stupid action is a transfer of one of the many items to one of the other characters so that they can perform the action. Some hints in conversation you will hear only once or not at all.

Sucks to hear you have such a hardtime with the RMA frown.gif
Hope you get it solved soon.
Luckely you dont need a GPU for these point and clicks wink.gif

Hmmm, i only played the first deponia.
Chaos on Deponia seems awfull frown.gif

I still advise you to try Chains of Satinav and Memoria.
Satinav has a few illogical hard puzzles but Memoria is near flawless IMO.

Chaos is a bit chaotic and travel dependent, and yeah you can get killed or run into some glitches. I always try most if not all the dialog options for fun so of course I got killed and selected new game thinking it's one of the 3 possible fun options except this time they weren't fun options. You gotta select restore or get majorly screwed.

I'm off to the 4th Deponia installment now. 3rd one is nice as long as you remember to swap items between controllable characters, you will know what I mean when you get there, it's new in Goodbye Deponia.
All of them are fun unless you get killed in Chaos on Deponia and lose all your progress due to not manual saving as shown in the video where that can happen.
In Goodbye Deponia you actually die as well and endup in the junk press same as in Chaos but this time it's part of the storyline and nothing to worry about. It may take a moment to find a way out of there but it is there.

I may try the D&D setting after Deponia.

It really blurs all together when you play one Deponia after the other.

And they've changed the controls once again, like seriously every Deponia installment has some change to it's controls, it's like they couldn't make up their minds when making the game.

You should really play the last Deponia Doomsday.
