Hyperlinks to an original screenshot / image do not function

Thread Starter
  • What happened?

I posted a screenshot in a thread. I open it in a new tab by clicking "Original". Can you see it? No, because the Hyperlink does not work. This is the screenshot's URL: http://www.overclock.net/image/id/12159611 It does not work either but if you'll Copy & Paste it in your address bar you'll see my screenshot.

  • Are you able to reproduce this problem consistently?
I discovered this today, like 4 hours ago.

  • What steps did you take to reproduce this problem?
I'm still trying to hypelink to my screenshot

  • What action did you expect to occur when this bug appeared?
I expected to be able to open my screenshot, like it used to work

  • Any additional information that will help us diagnose the issue:
Until very recently I was unable to upload a picture or a screenshot, during certain European (business & convenient) hours of the day. A fix was about to be deployed, I'm not sure IF it has, what it did, and IF it broke something (or not).

  • Browser, active browser addons, and operating system:
Win 10 Pro, latest Opera stable, ublock origin, Ghostery, DisconnectME, HTTPs Everywhere, AdGuard

  • URL where the issue occurs:
All over Overclock.net, besides Private Messages, I think / suppose.

I am able to click on and view the screenshots both from the links you posted here, as well as via the links posted in the original thread.
I am gonna say this is likely an issue on your end and not with the site.

What problem are you actually seeing when trying to load the images?
What does it show you in your browser when you try to load them?

Right now that I am clicking on my links, again, it still does not work for me. What I mean is that the links do not work. When I click on the hyperlink " Can you see it?", as well as on the URL of my screenshot, both found in my post #1, nothing happens. The screenshot is not opening, the hyperlink does not work, I am not taken to the address linked.

This MIGHT be a problem caused by the browser extensions I am using - all stated in my post #1. I seriously doubt it though because in the past it was working. Tomorrow, my local time, I will install the latest stable versions of Chrome and Firefox, without any Add-ons, and I will try again.

Before submitting this bug report I have PM-ed @ENTERPRISE and he, as well, has confirmed this bug and encouraged me to submit it.

Thank you.

I will investigate this more my end with thorough testing to see if it is a singular browser issue but thus far it also happens in FF.

Will report back later.

Chrome Test With user supplied link (Works Flags DNS)

Chrome Test With Outside Link (Works)

Chrome Test With OCN Based Image

Outcome:

External Hyperlinking Functioning

Internal Hyperlinking Functioning with possible DNS issue.

Further testing may be required. Original link produces a DNS error when Hyperlinked, if link is opened directly without hyperlinking it loads correctly.

http://www.overclock.net/image/id/12159611 (Will work In Standard Link Form, but not when hyperlinked)

Thank you for your testing + feedback @ENTERPRISE

So, to clarify this, with the latest stable versions of Chrome and Firefox you can open the hypelinks and the URL I provide in my first post?

Just verifying / clarifying this because I did not have the chance yet to download and install these browsers.

?

Thank you. smile.gif

PS: For me, with Opera + Add-ons listed in my post #1, it is like this right now:
- My hyperlink and URL (from post #1) do not function (open)
- From your post #5 the "Chrome Test With user supplied link (Works Flags DNS)" results in the "This site can’t be reached" error, 2nd and 3rd link work
- From your post #6 first link does not work, the other two work.
- From your post #8 the link does not work.

With the latest versions of Chrome & FF I can open the link in standard Link form. However Hyperlinking does not function as expected ....for your image in particular. However If I link to an image on OCN mine seems to work just fine.

Can you please try and hyperlink another image you have on OCN ?

Thanks.
