Their always at 30fps-60fps depending on what game it is. and their tflops is at 6/9tflops. I think for a true next gen con they'd need around 12 to 15tflops (hell why not even go for 20-25tflops) if we want to see 4k with higher richer textures (true next gen textures) instead of cheap low res textures.

You can't really leverage GPU performance on a PC platform, but you can on a console because it scales exponentially. The biggest reason a Console can do 4K easier than a PC is because the hardware of the GPU portion can be independently accessed a little more than the metal performance we see on the PC platform. We've seen this utilized and done with many games. We can also see that AMD has been working on a scaling feature that reduces the heaviness of higher resolutions.

TFlops has been the best indicator of performance since... never.

Upscaled 4K, here we go!
It will be a weak and rushed nextgen with backward compatibility.
And in the long term it will suck, because it was rushed, and because after making this move they won't be able to release a true nextgen for a long time.

My 980Ti runs vanilla Skyrim at 5120x2880 at 90fps.
(Edit: I just realized that since I bought a 4K monitor last week I can actually upscale to 8K resolution now, at 7680x4320 Skyrim runs at 30fps. Even more interesting is that DOOM with Ultra graphics settings runs at about 15fps (dipping to 10fps and 20fps at the highest), the funny thing is it also goes into slow-motion below 30fps so you can actually play it at that framerate. Anyway, using the Idtech 6 engine a console would only need to be 3 times more powerful than the 980Ti to get "playable" framerates, with heavy use of special effects, at 8K resolution.)

DOOM runs consistently at 80-100fps with low graphics settings and just 20% downscaling from 4K. Pretty much buttery smooth, but of course if the developers had tweaked the game a bit more toward high FPS I wouldn't need to use downscaling.
Any high end GPU released in 2016 should be fully capable of giving you 120hz 4K, if the game is designed to do it.

10 years ago the idea of running anything at 4K would have been a stretch, the hardware wasn't built for that kind of thing, but with the power we have today there is no game design on the market that can't be done at 4K and nearly any framerate you want.

At this point any question of resolution and framerate is wholly, entirely and utterly a matter of the goals set by the developer.

This makes me very mad, I got PS4 mainly to play Destiny since I prefer the playstation controller over XB1 and it has more exclusive content on PS4. Now my system will be rendered obsolete/useless within 8-9 months when I get a new 4k tv, I am okay with that but now they are releasing the Neo even sooner! I don't even have 300 hours played on my PS4 yet, what a waste of money.

I would rather they release it around July,Aug or Sept of next year, I bet Xbox One's Scorpio 4k/HDR console will be released during the Christmas holidays of next year.

How is your system useless? Does it have less power than it did before? The way I see it, tech is simply advancing over time the way it always has. My OG ps3 is significantly worse than the newer models that run cool and quiet compared to mine. My GTX 780 that I payed over $600 for is now worth next to nothing.

1080 can do 4k nicely if you dont crank it up to max and dail back a few settings but to consoles doing 4k native no way it wont be able to and people over hyping that it will and i feel bad ..Plus we kno console devs nerf dring development so i wouldnt be shocked if the scorpio/neo wont be as powerful as they say they will..Either way im not looking to foward of getting one as i have the xb1/pc and lets jus say i hardly play the console lolz

I see no issue with Neo launching sooner. He seems to have already known about Neo prior to his purchase so I don't see what the fuss is about. Either way he was going to be in this situation unless it launched in a couple of months.

Neo isn't going to be the magical 4K box many people seem to think it will be.

Maybe one this year and one next year.
