Thanks.

Samsung Magician (the only Samsung software I know of) works 0 % with the SM961

Magician and SM961:

Magician and 850 EVO:

However, the Samsung software doesn't actually do anything useful except for updating the firmware. I used it to update my 850 EVOs firmware but obviously it cant do that with the SM961 since it doesn't even recognize it. However, Samsung pretty much never releases firmware updates for their drives like the XP941, SM951, and SM961 anyway.

What period was between SM951 and 950 Pro? I hope it is similar here
post #146 of 190
For people who want the speed / 1 TB size now....

I dont really care that the Samsung Magician software doesn't recognize the SM961. The only thing that software even does is update the firmware. And as far as I know, Sumsung never even released a new firmware for the 950 Pro anyway.

So if your major hangup up is that Samsung Magician won't recognize the SM961, I wouldn't say that is much of a big deal.

The samsung 961 is not as fast as i expected
You should buy it if you really need a larger drive at short notice
The 950 pro beats the 961 in every real world usage.
As with all enterprise grade drives they never get firmware updates unless there are real problems to be solved like the linux problem with some of the enterprise models
Mine never got any besides that linux fix, and since i use windows i never had to install a firmware fix.
Anyway i am just saying that these drives probably run into unknown limits because the real world performance is not as great as you expect.
I bet it will run much better in server solutions, and to be honest thats what it is meant for.
The 950 pro shows to be the ultimate solution for those gaming and using it at home
Ofcourse in many synthetic benchmarks it probably shows being fast, but thats useless you want real life performance because thats what matters

Not really, that's roughly the average reaction time. That's so little time it doesn't actually matter in such a scenario, if you're not trying to save every millisecond possible which would be incredibly stressful.
