Build me a server. $1200 budget

Thread Starter
Will be running headless Ubuntu Server 16.04. Access will be solely ssh. UPS is not included in budget (but i will get one)

Uses will be... mythtv-backend, apt-cacher-ng caching, torrent server, backups via rsync / ssh, kvm host for experimentation, dns, dhcp, ltsp-server for media center boxes, minecraft server (no more than 5 players), print server, main storage for media (currently pushing 800gb of dvd rips + some music, need room to gr

Would like... 4tb in raid 1 for main storage. 250gb in raid 1 ssds for vms and minecraft server. dedicated ssd for os + swap (or it can go on the 250, not to worried about it.). Small and compact. mITX a plus. I'm flexible on using raid. Just like a bit of redundancy if possible.

Don't want or need... DVD drive / burner

Go for it!

*EDIT*

Clearly I've made a mistake in posting getting nothing but trolls. Reported to have thread locked or deleted.

Easy Mode: Get a Dell R720 with16 bays from Ebay, stuff it with as many 1TB SSDs as you can and config your storage for 1 big raid 10 array which would be 16TB Raw or 8TB total.

My route: Get a mobo combo from Natex.us which consists of a dual socket intel board with 128GB ECC and 2 E5 2670s is $498 usd You're getting dual 8 core 16 thread procs and a board for an outrageously awesome price. Can't go wrong. From there grab a chassis of your choosing and grab a 9211-8i from ebay so you can add more disks being that the Intel mobo I've listed only has 6 sata ports ($100 ish on Ebay) and personally I'm not a huuuuge fan of onboard RAID and with the streaming and media you're doing it can't hurt to have the raid card handling some of the storage number crunching. The board has IPMI etc for OOB management. You can't go wrong with that combo and if you decide to add vms etc you will have so much horsepower on tap it's crazy.

PSU: EVGA NEX 750W

HDD: I've had good luck with WD RED, Black, and RE as well as the Hitachi He series and Toshiba Ultrastars. but the Seagate 8TB shingle drives are rather intriguing.

SSD: 850 Pros and just get big ones, it's cheaper per TB in the long run

Chassis: I use a 900D but you can take your pick from the likes of Norco, Chenbro, Rosewill, Istar etc.
