[eTeknix] AMD Confirms $229 MSRP for RX480 8GB - Page 11

Are people actually complaining about it being $230? LOL, I have a $650 monthly child support bill, $230 is awesome.

No doubt. The hivemind is strong.

But seriously everything hits records these days...........why?

Bigger populations with money to spend on luxuries. More people, more gamers. Records are set on crap movies, music, games and products in general.

Not saying the 1080 is crap but you get my drift.

That seems like a decent price for a flagship 8GB card. I'm interested to see how it plays with Nvidia's big boys. No doubt more for your money here. This might be the "polaris"ation (get it?) that AMD needs to become the once great company that many of us started out with.

The Polaris press briefing just ended. I can tell you two things not under NDA in any form:

1) AMD likes their reference cooler.

2) It's disruptive in just the right way.

That is all.

Edit: Also, hype can be exaggerated. Don't go crazy on the rumored performance claims. It's not aiming at the GTX 1070. It's aiming for VR for the masses.

I was hoping it would not be $250 like some rumors said. I would gladly pay $30 more for the extra ram.

i'm afraid it doesn't work like that. you don't just add a bunch of low end gpus together and say it's on par with single GPU solution.

But you'd need CF games, back then CF scaled like rubbish, you also needed a board that supported Crossfire.

It's very nice in an ideal scenario, but it wasn't feasible.

Also, saved $200? I bought my HD 5870 for 340€, HD5770 512MBs were €125.
