[eTeknix] AMD Confirms $229 MSRP for RX480 8GB - Page 17

Exactly the price I wanted to pay. I expected it to be priced $10-15 higher, but this is fair.

$300 is the max price for 8GB AIB?

Awful R6 Siege graphics have seen 3.7 GBs use on my GTX 980, and that game looks very average...like Call of Duty

So yes, absolutely worth to have 8gb version, just in case.

I understand how you could feel that way. However, we do have to keep the NDA in mind. We should wait until after the 29th to pass judgement.

+ 1

I'm a slave to my Overclockable Qnix. I'm hoping the XFX card with the back plate and slightly shorter PCB has a DVI port. It may be $249, but I really don't care. I'll buy one first, then grab a second down the road if so.

$300 is the max price for 8GB AIB?
$300 8GB AIB is a rip off. $250 max for me otherwise you might just as well get the blower cooler.

So nice for AMD to be well received for a change biggrin.gif This gpu makes me excited for their next flagship. Price/performance is great on this one, now just crank it up a bit tongue.gif

Stock blower for me, with an eventual upgrade to an EK Thermosphere or similar.

I've been looking through this thread, and it seems to have some misconceptions.

For one, I haven't seen anyone here (for the most part) complain that the cost of 4 extra GB of ram was $30 more. The post that everyone is picking on...

What ever happend to setting the price and then let the market decide wither its worth buying or not, this age of preorders/preselling is so silly on the corporate side.

AMD had to squeeze that extra $30 out of the consumer because they know.

...seems to interpret differently in my mind. Since we don't have JonnyMark to defend this response, I am going to assume that they thought the RX 480 was going to be $199 across the board. So when they saw $229, they thought AMD was gouging the prices.

I was talking to a friend who was going to build a computer and told him the price of the 8GB version, and asked me "I thought it was supposed to be $199?" People are so transfixed on the idea of $199, that anything more is considered a rip off.

Anyway, that's just my observation. I could be wrong.

As far as the card goes, ~$230 for phenomenal performance is a great deal. I almost expect every household to have a RX 480 in some way. biggrin.gif

It was clearly stated that the $199 is for 4GB reference model, suggested price, MSRP. People are just too dumb to read and remember and always expect too much and want a the best for the least.

So what's your point then? the 480 won't be the top card in the series. Its only the FIRST card in the series...
