AMD is always late, that's why they lose.

He think they're late because Nvidia already released their new line, but it was pretty much a paper launch. Low supply, only flounder editions available, and outrageous prices. AMD wasn't late, Nvidia just rushed to try and beat them and it shows.

They've only been late the last two generations. If this card is near a GTX 980 performance AMD is pretty much set. They rule the console market, DirectX 12 runs better on AMD cards.

I've bought both nvidia's flagship cards the last two generations. GTX 780 Ti, and 980 Ti - mostly due to loyalty to EVGA
Seems like Samsung fab is a blessing for AMD and I believe they will have an answer to nvidia's Ti if it is released within the next 6-7 months.

Edit: Turns out Globalfoundries are making Polaris.

GF is making the die, but the process design is a collaboration between Samsung and GF

Exactly. Maybe the rumours of 'Nvidia being scared' were actually true.

Not scared as in they will suddenly become number two, but scared they will lose their seemingly invincible iron grip on the market.

I always thought AMD and Nvidia release cycles were intentionally a few months apart from each other? I can't remember the last time they both came out with a competing card at the same time.

Nvidia has that Halo card spot, but AMD is about to take the mainstream market. Guess where the money is made?

Here's a hint... AMD is out for blood and Nvidia knows it.

probably because Vega is still in due 2017.

he has a point, RX480 may be a good card for $200, they still have nothing to pitch for those who wants a stronger card.

for example, i'm for a $300 card thats a bit better than RX480, if possible almost on-par with GTX1070.
but GTX1070 is out of my budget, and RX480 is too low on the price point.

a lot of people doesn't understand where the mainstream market is, plus most here are interested only in the $400+ market.
