How much power does my xonar dgx can output, and which headphones can benefit the most of it?

I have been using this sound card for 3 years already. My settings are 96 khz with >64 ohm output, and I use it with my sennheiser hd 558 (with the inside tape mod done). I dont have any complaints, but now I wanted to know if I have been doing this right by using this combo, or if maybe I can benefit by getting a pair of headphones with higher impedance like the dt 990 pro 250 ohm. Will my DGX be enough to power the beyerdynamic ones? I like to play immersion adventure adventure games as well as competitive ones in which you need to hear the faintest footsteps in order to get an advantage.

Impedance is not a measure of sound quality. Impedance is an electrical resistance (pressure?) am amplifier has to work against when sending a sound signal to a speaker or headphone.

If that pressure is to high the amp can't send enough power and the sound will be weak.
If that pressure is to low the amp may send to much power and distort the sound.

Impedance is not a "better or worse" parameter, it's either right or wrong for a particular amp/speaker headphone setup.

Generally, one first chooses speaker/headphones that have the sound quality and volume one wants, and then you choose am amp that can supply the power needed. If you already have an amp (soundcard) and don't want to but a new one, then you choose speaker/headphones that match it.

Thanks for the explanation, but I already knew about that. Im asking if anybody knows how much audio power output the xonar dgx produces. In the Asus website I can see the specs of it, like dB, etc ..., but not about impedance. It says it can power headphones over 64 impedance, but doesnt say until how much.

Generally, headphone amps are not rated for power output.
That's because there is no way to accurately convert that power output to a loudness
With speakers, the effect of amplifier power can be measured by placing a microphone in front of the speaker (sensitivity? - db at 1 watt at 1 meter)
But with headphones there is no way to duplicate the sound environment (so measurements can be taken) because the fit of a particular headphone will vary greatly from person to person.

Headphones are usually rated for voltage output (if at all!). 3 volts P/P is typical for headphones.
