My view on GAMING... - Page 3

I used to game a lot as a teenager (I'm turning 21 soon), but I stopped for a long while recently. Started playing Diablo 2 Median XL mod and Overwatch out of boredom because I'm a college student and wasn't able to find a summer job this year. Spending a ton of time playing Diablo lately, but I think it should be easy to slow down once I have to start studying again in September (I've played it my whole life, so I lose interest in it rather quickly).

Responding to above, I've gained weight in recent years due to depression and not wanting to get out much. I love going for walks a listening to music, though, so I plan on buying some high-end portable ones soon and walking a ton like I used to (used to for hours on end as a teenager). I used to work out a lot too (wasn't great with lifting heavy, but could run for longer than most "in-shape" people), gotta start doing that again too. Done too little self-improvement for too long.

I was just looking on steam for some game titles on Summer Sale, and I realized something funny...

The games that peaked my interest are not very appealing to me anymore. I was a huge fan of Batman series, but now I hesitate to buy those games, because I don't think I want to play them as much as I did before.

It's like the cloud left my mind recently, and I can see what I want. Even new Battlefield 1 is not very exciting to me, I probably will buy it, but I will wait past release date to gauge the interest in it.

I was just going through pages of Steam games and maybe 2 caught my eye. That's it. I realize that I only play 1 game consistently and that's Rainbow Six Siege. Battlefield is another one, but I haven't touched it in over 8 months. Insurgency is an occasional thing, and slew of games that I haven't touched since I bought them.

So much money I could have saved for something else. tongue.gif

Glad you broke the habit. It's one thing to enjoy gaming in your free time and entertainment, it's another whole world when you are addicted to it like a drug. Those 10 hour sessions, I've had before during summer breaks and weekends back in the days, but not in the excess that you seem to have had. To say a cliché, Everything in moderation. I'd say the easiest way to not get so hooked for super long sessions where your body is suffering is to have another hobby that isn't tech related. I know, hard to have when gaming just requires you to sit on your butt inside the safety of your home. But things like fishing with friends or working out with friends will help.

Just glad that you had the realization and can control it. Now get back to gaming, then get to doing something away from the technology!

LOL, yeah. Won't be gaming for a while, since no GPU and leaving for Europe in 3 days. smile.gif

Once I come back I want to restructure my habit, but in order to do so certain factors need to change, such as change in job.

I love fishing, but fishing in Phoenix, Arizona is well...forces you to drive....A WHILE...since I am in the desert literally. On the subject of friends, I have lost a lot of friends due to their drug habits. New friends are very inconsistent in actually picking up the phone, which is perhaps why I gamed so much.

Moderation is definitely a challenge for me, that's why I am concerned when I start gaming, just naturally due to my patterns. Almost makes me not want to buy GPU at all, but then I'm living in fear of myself.

So it's a process. Work in progress, as we speak. smile.gif
