Help - Corsair link showing Zero fan RPM for h100i v2 ?

Hey guys I installed a h100i v2 and corsair link is saying the fan rpm connected to the pump is zero rpm. It can still control the fan but it's an inconsistent speed - I can hear it speed up and down when I set it at a set % speed.
Is this a pump issue or a software issue?

Here are some things that I have tried:

1. Reinstall Corsair Link
2. Connect the pump to CPU_OPT header instead of CPU_FAN header (didn't work)
3. Tried connecting different fans
4. My motherboard only has 1 usb header on it that isn't 3.0 so I would switch ports but physically can't

My motherboard is ASUS Maximus VIII hero alpha (z170 chipset)
and I'm running Windows 10 x64

Down to try different ideas - can't seem to find anyone else with the same issue.

I HAVE found that people were having this issue with one of the GTX models in Windows 8.1 - something about a USB issue. I watched some videos and it involved adjusting the registry but I didn't want to start messing with the registry when I haven't found people having a similar problem on 10.
