Center speaker sounds to high no bass

Thread Starter
Hey i have a logitech Z-5400.
I am happy with almost all the speakers just not the center speaker.
When i turn on 5.1 surround sound the center speaker where all the vocal sounds come through doesn't have much bass to it.
However in stereo mode i am happy with the sound, probably becouse the sound gets devided over the center, left and right front speakers.tongue.gif

Here comes the qeustion:P
Is it possible to just replace the center speaker with a higher qualtiy speaker from another brand with better bass?
That would be really cool.

If so, any suggestions on what speakers or brands to look for?

Thanks allot biggrin.gif

Yes, you could do that.

The problem you will have is matching how loud the new speaker will sound compared to all the others. All speakers have a sensitivity rating - Scroll down to the S's

Sensitivity
A sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power (watts) into volume (decibels). The higher the rating, the louder your speakers will play with a given amount of amplifier power. Sensitivity is often measured by driving a speaker with one watt and measuring the loudness in decibels at one meter.

The chart below illustrates that a few dB in sensitivity can make a big difference:
Speaker Sensitivity rating Power needed
to produce a given volume
Speaker A 85 dB 100 watts
Speaker B 88 dB 50 watts
Speaker C 91 dB 25 watts

And, since Logitech does not publish sensitivity ratings, choosing a new speaker would be a shot in the dark.
