[PCPer] Intel still hasn't paid AMD the 1.2 billion USD anti-trust fine - Page 12

Wonder why the ruling did not stress yearly compounded interest and fines for not paying up on time?

Because its a court judgement and not a bank loan? The judge usually has discretion on that sort of thing and judgements are usually unavoidable unless they won an appeal or disappeared. But its a multinational corporation, they can't just up and leave so easily. They can delay all they want but eventually they have to pay. AMD can easily get law enforcement to start seizing assets to get the money owed but its probably not good for relations with Intel and other corporations they do business with. So they play it out in the courts.

Do they have to pay an interest for every year they are delaying?
Justice delayed is really no justice at all. Get it paid up or sanction them until it is paid. Shame!

Sure I will. But things work much differently on an individual level.

Which is my point. People keep saying this is morally wrong/illegal. The morally wrong part is irrelevant at this level and it's clearly not illegal.

But in all seriousness Intel made not only a morally wrong choice, but clearly a legal one as indicated by the fine. What Intel did is a massive breach of business ethics in regards to their dealings with Dell. These reasons alone should concern anyone with two brain cells to rub together, but apparently not everyone.

You have to understand that I like Intel because I A. Have the money to spend on it and B. It's faster by a large factor then the competition.

All there is to it. If Zen comes out and beats the pants of of Intel mainstream parts I'll have my mobo and CPU in the for sale section the day after.

Squabbles between corporations don't factor into the value proposition for me.

Depends on how long they can tie up the courts with *Insert Legal Babble here*

Its common practice with big companies to not pay fines and to tie them up for years.
