6800k @4.4Ghz 1.35v or 6700k in gaming/streaming HD movies. Kaby Lake question as well. - Page 4

In games? At equal clock it should be a tie, but 6700K will clock better and has newer arch. it will have an edge in games that don't run insane AI or physics.
There is gazzilion of reviews of the 6800K and comparisons on Youtube, just search and read watch.

pure gaming I agree 6700k since it will be the fastest oced. But anything that uses 6 cores or multitasking you get ~50% increase in speed. Well worth spending the extra ~$200 IMO. In the grand scheme of the entire system cost +$1700 it is not much.

The 6700K should be around 2-3% at the same clocks. If you go for an SL chip (4.8 or 4.9) you may be able to clock it a little bit higher since they don't delid before testing. Some people have gotten a delidded 4.8 to 5.0 24/7 stable.
If there isn't a specific board, you could go with the asrock z170 ocf for the highest core/mem clocks. X99 caps out around ~3200 for mem ~4.3-4.4 for the core.

4133 19-21-21-41 (2x8GB) is out and 4266 19-23-23-43 (2x8GB) is supposedly out in June. These may get you another 10%

It wouldn't be 50% if one is clocked higher than the other. 4.9 vs 4.4 would be more like 1.36x

Research is complete. I went ahead and purchased a 6800k that should run at 4.4Ghz using 1.35v or less. I figured that it should be just as fast as a 6700k in games at 1440p but will pull ahead once games use more cores. I really don't want to upgrade for at least another year. Preferably 2-3 years. By then 8-10 cores should be cheaper, new tech and be insanely fast. Thanks so much for your input folks!

Now to choose between the new x99 Gigabyte Ultra Gaming mobo or Asus Strix Gaming mobo. Already picked up 32GB of 3200Mhz CAS 14 DDR4.

Op is multitasking. Like I said if pure gaming only then 6700k is better and will give higher fps. But if you run things in background there will be stutters. 6800k will have two additional cores to keep things more stable when running things in background while gaming. $200 for stability vs $200+ for very fast overpriced ram. Also we are comparing quad vs dual channel as well. My 4.4 ghz 6800k gets 20k in physics firestrike. If you put the two side by side with different games the average fps difference will probably not be as large as you make it out to be. Linus did a video showing the massive unplayable stutters he got playing games while trying to render something in the background on a 6700k and then having 5860k or some other 6+ core chip being playable. These marginal fps difference means nothing when multutasking and one system is playable and the other is not

An existing comp+capture card could work if he doesn't mind using two at once.
