This is from the article:

That is what I plan to find out today, as I stick a pair of GTX 1080 and GTX 980 Ti graphics cards together using the new SLI bridge and comparing it to the old single connector flex bridge I got for free with a Z170 motherboard.

It's a flawed test because he's comparing an SLI setup that uses just ONE of these:

...against an SLI setup that uses this:

If you just grab two cheap SLI ribbons the performance will be identical to the "HB" bridge all the way up to 5-6k resolution.

He spoke prematurely because he assumed what didn't work with Maxwell also wouldn't work with Pascal, but that turned out to not be the case.

So in short, 2x flex bridges = HB bridge when used on Pascal.

Scaling is so terrible on many big games and not supported on even more. I guess that's a step in the right direction, but it's still disappointing. Just look at the 980ti, 3 out of 10 games has less then 40% scaling, that's terrible.

If you read the source article you will see that he did in fact run tests with two regular floppy bridges and came up with the same results as the HB bridge.

This makes sense because most of the bandwidth increase comes from using both bridges not the increased hurtz.

I think the EVGA ones look pretty nice though, I would just get one of those instead of two floppy bridges.

FWIW I used the RoG 3-way SLI hard bridge that came with my mobo when I had 970 SLI, and SLI worked just fine.

Yeah. I remember using 2 ribbons for crossfire and sli for the overclocked monitors. Both worked just fine

This is nice to see some benefit from this new SLI bridge, also nice to see it will even improve on some of the older cards. Now to find one in stock somewhere lol
