[TinyBuild] G2A sold $450k worth of our game keys that we received no payment for - Page 4

As long as they keep region locking prices key sites will be popular for people out side the USA.
Ill use the last game I got from a key site as a example.

The division, If I bought it off Uplay with my NZ region it was $95, On steam it was $99.
If I used a US proxy price dropped to $60 uplay and $79 steam.
Key site, They did some Russian proxy for me and game cost $49 on Uplay.

Activision started the whole "hurrrrr our games are worth 60 dollars which are what they're sold for on consoles, so that's what our PC games will sell for now" movement then everyone else started following. Greed. Ever since I got into PC gaming the top AAA games were always 50. Oh well if Activision is making more money per unit sold, why shouldn't we! Screw the customers! On top of that, we're going to stop giving them the cool big boxes with all the cool stuff in them. Nah, let them pay for a digital copy at the same price. We'll put a box in the store but the only thing that'll be in there is a key to activate it. Disc is pretty much useless.

Ya, I'm going to continue using G2play to buy my digital games at what I think is worth it. I've been buying most of my games from G2play for the last 4 years. Though I do occasionally buy from retail spots if I actually like the developer.

It'd odd to me that the debate in this thread is focused on whether G2A is bad for game developers.

Isn't the real problem that G2A is laundering money for identify thieves?

That was my first thought as well.

If keys are being bought by thieves, then stop selling keys to thieves.

Devs will get full price once they begin allowing game re-selling. If I wanted to rent I would pay $5 max, they are lucky they are even getting half of full retail with the current model. Until then, G2A seems like karma in full effect.tongue.gif

That's what greenmangaming is? I'm a follower on twitter and I think on youtube, don't remember how but just thought it was game previews lol

You can already go into websites like the official EA Origin store from a VPN to get foreign prices for half off games (origin has no region locks), so there is no point to this.
Whaaaat? Wow I had no idea you could do that. Tyvm

My first thought too. They just dump keys out to anyone with a valid credit card. They need to work with the banks or something to come up with a way to verify the cards are not stolen.

I never once used g2a. Don't these sites require your cellphone too? A while back I tried to buy from one when I didn't know about them. It asked for my cell and I refused. It wouldn't even take a google voice number. I emailed them that I didn't have a cell phone and they canceled my order.

Why do they need cell phone numbers? Probably reselling your info to thieves and then they jack your steam account.. it doesn't make sense.

Either eliminate keys, or tie them to the credit card's name, that bought them.

The whole idea of RESELLING a game key is a farce. Nothing good can come from it and it is utter shaddyness from the start.

That would result in a delay in processing legitimate orders.

What they really need to do is keep track of what keys they give out, and disable them if there's a chargeback.

Personally don't buy from G2A but I don't see the problem with it at all ASSUMING THE KEYS AREN'T BOUGHT WITH STOLEN CREDIT CARDS.
The fact that PC players can't even resell or trade their games makes me much less empathetic to the whole situation.
