Ambient light mod

Thread Starter
I'm not sure what this type of mod is called, but google tells me it could be called, "Ambilight". Basically I want lights behind my monitor that change color based on what my monitor is showing. What's this called, have you done this before, how do I do it?

What you want is:
1,) "Daylight" color bulb
2.) less than 10 watts.

The simplest is a 6 watt T4 10,000K (daylight) fluorescent bulb and fixture.

You need something like Lightpack ( http://store.lightpack.tv/products/lightpack ).
It needs to be connected to your PC to be able to change colors.
I don't know if there is any cheaper or better alternative.

You may want to check this out: http://fun3md.blogspot.co.uk/2009/07/atmolight-clone-project.html

It's made around VLC but he says there are other programs and games that should work with it.
