Will do more benchmarks and play with voltages and core speeds more tonight.

Any requests? Any different benchmarks? Only games I have right now are witcher 3, csgo, overwatch, and diablo 3. I have others on steam but none really current and/or taxing on the hardware.

1 request, monitor clock speeds with these same settings, I believe there is almost no way the card is sustaining more than the 1266 ref boost, let alone the manf. oc.

From what I can tell the fluctuation isn't all that bad. Is there any way to log that and dump the values?

This card is total garbage. A lot of ppl, including me, was expecting(and hoping) for more from AMD.
In terms of architecture, amd is about 2 years behind Nvidia. Sad facts....
you mean backwards right? because Paxwell still cant do DX12 async compute just adds pre emption. this card is a Mainstream card replacing r9 380 with 2x vram and 40% higher performance.
Quote:
In terms of power they matched Nvidia 970(released 2 years ago) and newly released 1080. YES 1080 has the same power draw but ~double the performance!!!
It even exceeds the power draw limits for pcie slot and 6 pin which may damage your motherboard permanently:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-rx-480-polaris-10,4616-9.html.

In terms of performance they matched Nvidia 970 and AMD 390.
So basically....we have AMD "GTX 970" aka AMD RX 480....after 2 years.
it cant be compared the Ellesmere GPU has ROP/INT8, Bandwidth bottleneck, but when tt doesnt run into these issue sthe card performs like a GTX 980/R9 390x

Quote:
Overclocking ? Non-existant. 5%-7% extra ? Seriously?
the card is limited by power delivery I dont think people can compare this card with a single 6 pin limiting the power available to use.
Quote:
In terms of money, thats a fail too. Gibbo said already, AMD will not produce more 4GB versions(those cheap ones) so either you buy now or you will have to pay more money for 8GB version. Now the question is, do u really need 8GB with such low performance if you wont utilize it ? No.... So you end up paying more for nothing.
That means, that now this new RX480 8GB costs the same as 2 years old GTX 970.
this costs barely more than a 380x which was using a older architecture, with a 3 years old node. and the card deliver performance of a 450usd card at 1080 , and performance of a 330usd card at 1440+
Quote:
Now...as we already said, 970 have the same performance as RX480. However if we look at overclocking this is where the story changes. You can get 1500MHz easy with gtx 970. Thats ~25% OC...and not this crappy 5%.
if you are comparing a non ref 970 the overclock to 1500MHz it wont be close to 25% with boost., and Maxwell OC percent doesnt mean performance increases the same percent

I'd like to add in not ALL 970's can overclock well. My strix couldn't even get to 1400...

There is a log to file checkbox in GPUZ at the bottom of the sensors tab; probably the easiest way to do this.

I'm worried your card is throttling pretty badly, the first user to post a FS benchmark with a stock ref 480 was scoring just 100 points less than you. Even a 62mhz core oc should be bumping the score up to 12.8-13k area

Hehe, O, I am waiting for some AIB ones to show up. biggrin.gif Hopefully they have extra pins and a DVI hook up. I so plan to smack an AIO onto one.

Since I am the nutty with a GTX 960 with an AIO on it clocked at 1552MHz with stock volts holding 3rd place in Nvidia cat in TC with some GTX 780s. tongue.gif I be one nutty gal.

I so want to play around with a RX480 for the giggles and to see how far it can be push while abusing it with folding and boincing. Maybe I give the 960 to another peep to do Nvidia spot for me and I can once again rock the AMD cat in TC.

Sapphire already confirmed a few things about the RX480 Nitro+; 8pin, backplate, DVI port included

Asus RX 480 Strix is apparently going with 2x6pins, also has a backplate and DVI port

I manage to find a shot of its ports.

Thank goodness for a DVI port!!! Now I don't have rig one up to the blasted TV and can hook it up straight to my monitor instead.
