67c vs 79c in Anno.

Also Strix is quieter as well , i guess its 2 fans vs 3 so it should be. If i was in the market for an AIB 480 it would now be a bit of a toss up between the two. Alhough the lower ram voltage on the strix is a problem - can that be adjusted ??

Seems both 8gb AIBs Strix / Nitro don't hit 1400 (4gb nitro did go over that at de) , i'm wondering if a little tweak to core voltage eg above 1.15 would get there. I think > 1.15 that can be done in gpu tweak.

The heat pipes do not have to touch the core as long as they are well interfaced with each other. Copper transfers heat well enough that the extra liquid volume in the pipes is still a net positive, even without the core directly touching all of them.

Going to dive right in and ask the questions

My current setup
4 GTX 680 2GB
5930k
16GB ddr4

Will 2-3 RX 480's do well at 4k?
Will 2 RX 480s beat my current setup at 1440p, Let alone 4k
Do they have waterblocks yet
If 2 beat my current setup, can they be run in tri-fire yet?
If Yes to the above does anyone have any experience with these at 4k?
How well do they overclock

Why 2-3? because in australia i can get 3 of these for less than the price of one 1080 -_-

Two RX 480s should do a good job matching or beating your GTX 680 quad setup. Crossfire scales better (MUCH better in your case). You don't need more than three, though, that's just a waste (and likely is with your current setup... ).

More importantly, it can be nearly twice as fast as what you currently have when SLI/CF doesn't work.... and DX12/Vulkan is just icing on the cake.

You only need two for that to be true, adding a third one will just be that little bit better.

ive been watching nowinstock like a hawk. only 2 Nitro+ OC 8GB listed - Amazon, and Newegg. no preorders on either.
The OC version are high binned chips. Those will likely be a lower quantity than the non-OC versions and will take longer to release.
not nessisarily.

OCUK has ONLY received OC versions.

Hello all, just found this thread.

I have what I think is a unique situation. My reference RX 480 obviously only has HDMI out & the DP outs. My monitor has hdmi and DVI. Now, when I use HDMI in with this GPU, it looks horrendous. In another thread a member suggested getting into my monitors settings and adjusting to get the HDMI In to look better. The issue is the screen is stretched off screen, with that, makes all the pixels offsize and just horrible. From what i can see, there is no setting to help resize and correct screen size.

With HDMI out from GPU to a HDMI - DVI adapter, the image quality is SUPERB, gorgeous. So its no problem to me to use the passive HDMI - DVI adapter, big whopp, right?

PROBLEM IS... Only from a power off state will the GPU initialize DVI and the monitor will work. If I reset, the RX 480 will not re-initialize the DVI input on my monitor. So anytime I need to reset, I have to completely power off, rest a few secs until monitor turns off, then power back on.

Any advice on this?

I was wondering if after market RX 480s (like the nitro w/ DVI out) would have same issue? I just want to not have to turn my machine completely off anytime I just need to reset. Kinda sucks.

That's an interesting problem - seems more likely to be a problem with your monitor, you could try checking the monitor using another HDMI output device (like a DVD player).

As for the DVI signal issue, did you try just power cycling the monitor? What HDMI-DVI adapter do you have?
