Will deleting my RAID0 be recoverable?

Thread Starter
Looking to sell a PC with dual 1TB WD Blacks in RAID0.

There has been and is still some valuable information on it. If I delete the RAID0 group using the RAID menu on start up and create another one will the old data be recoverable?

In other words I want to know is there any way to make sure the data can't be recovered other that zeroing out the whole drive or destroying them? I've heard that broken RAID0 volumes are recoverable because of the data spread on both drives.

Thanks for any advice!

Breaking the raid does nothing to the data(sure its split across the drives but its recoverable), if there is anything on there you don't want someone else to see, use eraser or something similar to overwrite the drives.

Cheers @AndroidVageta!

Theoretically once the volume is deleted you'll have two empty unpartitioned drives, but there'll be no harm in writing zeroes on both drives just in case with Data Lifeguard Diagnostics in order to make sure that the data is securely removed:

Hope this helps, mate!

Data can be recovered from ANY RAID array member provided that no new data has been written on it. There is plenty of software around which can do that before even going with highly expensive data recovery services.

To make sure use Kill Disk or Parted Magic and run few times (one zeroing solves nothing). On dedicated RAID cards there is Secure Erase function, but it's not the case here.
