I haven't kept up much with their gear since the 7000 series, but back then they didn't have a great reputation - their coolers were pretty much the worst you could find. Their cards ran hot and loud. However, seeing as this is a reference model, it should cool just as well as any other reference model.

I'll probably go with a sapphire or gigabyte. Thanks.

XFX has garbage customer support.

imo they missed the point, people want the 480 because 1. price and 2. availability

I respectfully disagree. At least from my own experience. They just replaced my HD 7870 that was heavily used for years with a brand new R9 380 within a week. biggrin.gif

Not so sure i agree. I had some help from Hardware rep on here with XFX. I do recall them having tons of issues years ago back in 5xxx series. I have XFX and sapphire AMD gpu's and well so far *(knock on wood* no issues to have to RMA.

I had to RMA a 5870 years back, took a while but it was replaced.

it doesnt mater whatever you buy at release all are reference, only the warranty is the only difference
post #18 of 34
Looks nice, but this is still reference, hot and loud. Plus preorder prices are really bad, a lot of retailers are looking for lemmings and trying to sell those cards for $280+ with preorders. $280 for some top quality non reference may be acceptable, hardly but it is, but for reference this is pure bs.
I am not sure if guys noticed, but the MSI version is available for $240. And it is also 8GB.
The MSI reference 8GB model preorder is $239.99 which is still $10 over MSRP.

Either way, wait for non-reference designs unless you are in dire need of a blower style cooler.
