[KOTAKU] The Makers of Zelda On Why Their Games Are Usually Late - Page 4

3DS having fewer and fewer tiles? Don't know what the heck you looking at, but darn there several or many games I still need to buy for mine. Just slowly working through the ones I got. Just a bit annoyed that Earthbound only available for the new 3DS. That kind of piss me off.

Though, come this Fall I know which game on mine I will be playing the living crap out of.

I really never buy a console on release date, the only exception was the Gamecube which down right has the most hours I have ever put on a device (blame that on PSO ep1&2 and Smash Bros). Since the Zelda is coming to the Wii U. I will probably buy it for my Wii U, and wait out like I usually do until enough games I am interested in show up before I buy the console. Right now I am still waiting on Sony to get their crap arse to release the games I am interested in to show up for the PS4. They sure taking their lovely time at it. mad.gif O well, it should by then at least be cheap to get.

Well, fair enough. I haven't been following the 3DS market as of late because my interest dissipated a few years ago. I haven't seen anything advertised either. So in my opinion, there is nothing interesting for me going on.

@ Gamecube

I wouldn't say I put the most hours but definitely some of the best hours of my gaming came from the cube. Especially that it introduced me to my favourite game of all time, Metroid Prime. Not to mention Paper Mario TTYD, Metroid Prime 2, Battalion Wars, Wind Waker, Kirby Air Ride, Melee, NFSU2, etc

I really would love some hard hitting titles like these to come out for the NX. I would gladly invest into Nintendo again. Though, it seems they're going into another direction.

O indeed. Gamecube had some really good titles. Reason I still have mine and occasionally fire it up.

Would love to see another Metroid Prime game though. Retro Studio did an amazing job with that series.

But the 3DS does have good healthy library now. Took it a bit, but there a good chunk of titles. I'm just giddy that Dragon Quest games are coming to it. Especially Dragon Quest 8. biggrin.gif

I really love Nintendo, I grew up with them just like the majority of older gamers. However, the post above yours shows where they stand. I don't care about having leading edge graphics either. But they need to get with the times. Restructure their development cycles and produce meaningful content. A game every few years isn't enough for the core gamers out there. For instance, how come there is nothing coming from Retro Studios? Or why have they basically neglected so many 3rd parties. If they make a more friendly system to develop for, I am sure we'd get great titles again. Feels like the Wii U just slowed Nintendo to a halt.

Same with the 3DS. It had a good launch and some promising titles. Now fewer and fewer big titles are being developed. I just want them to be relevant again. I have no need for a Xbox or PS anymore. A PC takes care of that. However, I'd love to invest into a Nintendo platform again for when people come over. Or just some good, classic, single player Nintendo games.

Well I do agree with you in the sense that they do take too long with the Zelda titles. You basically get one Zelda release per console generation and its been that way since Gamecube and WW (I know TP was released on GC too but it ended up being made a Wii game too). Heck, Wii U looks like its not even going to end up getting a Zelda title at all!

They need to do a much better job of making damn sure that a mainstream Zelda game is a launch (or very near launch) title for every console they release. As it is now, they delay and delay Zelda until the console is old and about to be replaced, then realize they'd rather move it over to the new console rather than "wasting" it on a console they are about to EOL. This happened with TP on GC and now BotW on Wii U...

Its a shame the Gamecube never got more respect than it did during its release. That was one of the best consoles ever made IMO and I spent much more time on it than I ever did on my PS2. In fact, I still play my GC to this day whereas my PS2 is looooooong gone. I even feel like the graphics of the really good Gamecube games (like WW, TP, and Metroid Prime) were better than PS2's or Xbox's. Sacrilege I know...

You'd be hard pressed to find gamers who did not like the gameclub. 10x better than the ps2 at launch. Later on the ps2 did start to redim itself. Would still put p2 above p3. P4 is turning into another great console. Only time will tell just how good the ps4 will be.

Nintendo never really transitioned to the HD era of video games. Only now are they attempted to populate a large, open world... something Bethesda and Ubisoft have been doing for the past 8-10 years.

That's why it took so long. For them, it was like going from Mario Sunshine to Skyrim.

Bethesda has been doing it since 1994 wink.gif But first major one to hit was in 2002 with Morrowind, so 14 years.. man I'm old redface.gif
