So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

This doesn't preclude AMD having designed a larger-than-RX chip that they're keeping quiet about.

Another good reason to buy AMD stock. AMD is actually coming out with new tech since 2013...

There's no way Vega is coming out in October if they just finished hardware design.

This must be why we had those couple posts from Raja about major milestone for Vega being done smile.gif

Well if the GPU hardware design is now 100% done and moving into pre-production testing, it should take 2 months or so for the testing to be completely finished and then a month of ramping up and shipping to partners, and a month of partner production and shipping to retail outlets, we *could* see a late October to November launch. Albeit with most likely short supplies, similar to the launch supplies we saw of the 1080. Though supposed AMD sources do say early 2017. They must want real stock around

Good news is that as of today, AMD is celebrating the end of actual hardware design and shipping the designs into the hands of in-house and 3rd party developers.
It’s never been a better time to be a gamer. According to official sources at AMD, we should not expect to see Vega 10 GPU before first quarter of 2017. That information is contradicted by other sources close to the company, which claim AMD is working night and day of making a simultaneous launch of ZEN-based high-end CPU and Vega 10 GPU
So who knows, both are possibilities

Vega in October was part of a hit piece about AMD being scared of Paxwell and rushing it out. Why did everyone run with it?

To me, finished hardware design means "tape out", which would have a ~6 month wait until everything is ready.

Maybe a bigger GPU Die (RX 480(x)/ RX 490(x) ) could be released some months before the Vega 10 GPU

News sites have been incorrectly positing tape out times for all manner of product lines for years.

The 14nm process is ready to go, the kinks are out and they'll be able to run it on the mains instead of having to wait for a window and retooling and lithography adjustments and they already have the substrate figured out and tested etc.

They can hit October with a showable testable prototype batch then go on sale in mid Dec
