Mark my words: this DRM will be reinstated as soon as the opportunity presents itself (reaches threshold marketshare, competitor falls far behind/exits market etc)

Honestly, it was either this or cease to exist.

Time will tell if the damage done will fade away. My hopes are that it will, and O.R. will continue to co-exist with Vive. We need a Vive competitor to keep the hardware battle raging on for a while. I think Valve+HTC have a good mindset, but competition will keep them honest.

There will of competition, and in the long run not having a suppressive player involved will be good. VR is being pushed all around,Occulus did its deed in the begging of the this. They made a mistake in selling to Facebook.

Basically,
Losing a few good companies now or rather promising companies now for the benefit of all companies and creativity and the marketplace in the future is definitely definitely a good trade-off.

And remember, The execs can get new jobs at new companies or regroup and start again! Tracking our every movement and sharing it with 3rd part companies, massive amounts of data in how to better insert read FORCE advertisements on us and us into a endgame LOCKED system, why is Facebook after China?

They are not, they likely don't care about the "Chinese" market, but to be the future "social internet itself" (social network) you can't leave non aiglinged populations ESPECIALLY China where a strong Chinese alternative will prevent a "Facebook Social advertising farm" where we are like in the matrix only providing views in advertising instead of as power sources.

Better they exit before they plan the ways VR enhances their bottom line over consumer/social/marketplace benefit.

Vote with wallets and recommendations to all we know avoid the rift, Vive now or wait , Vive would be the one I would recommend on technical aspects alone to most anyone.

Support for the rift now is counter intuitively, bad for competition.

Edit: mobile post and I did not typo check 😶
