[S/A] Serious problem hits Nvidia’s consumer Pascal GPUs - Page 12

To be honest, you could probably get a founder's edition under the msrp if you had the magical 20% jet.com discount. I wouldn't get it either way, because damn, it's money I don't have lol. The other thing would be supply and demand. Just because you could get it at that price doesn't mean you will... You gotta be lucky, and this would assume someone was selling it at founder's edition markup (without additional markups). The other way you could get it for possibly free is by giving it up to some desperate geek with the 1080. And you know what - that's probably a really good trade, especially considering most people in that industry wouldn't even get close to making that much in a few seconds.

But feel free to continually not read everything I write.

Everything you said makes no sense.

Take the Titan X for example.

http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/anton-shilov/demand-for-nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-x-is-unexpectedly-high/

"Unexpectedly high" -> cost 1000$.

"They didn't expect this high demand".. no, just no.

Your link supports what I said clearly but nice attempt at trying to not use common sense in understanding my point here.

If the card is in more demand than previous cards obviously it doesnt matter what the stock is compared to previous launches

Is anyone really surprised by any of this? If I recall, Pascal was never intended to exist in this state to begin with. The new chip was intended to run on what is now the Volta architecture with HBM2 memory. Once they realized they weren't gonna have HBM2 ready for consumer release and the new architecture wasn't gonna be ready, there was a scramble to throw together a GPU on the new process they were already scheduled to use. Thus was born the 1080 and 1070, shrunk maxwell cards overclocked to the moon to make up the performance gap.

Sucks for Pascal, but on the other hand with the extra time to properly refine the new process and the new architecture, Volta will probably be an absolute beast.

Open box? No way you got a brand new 1080 for that price. Over inflated 1070? Sure. rolleyes.gif

If there is a problem then this is not a G5X one. 1070 is out of stock too on Europe. I talked with a shop and they told me that i will have to wait over 1 month to get one.

WTH are you talking about?
Do you have anything to based that statement on?
Pascal has been meant to be nvidia's GPU series just like maxwell, fermi, etc etc, with low, mid, high and top high ranges just like maxwell.

The 980 and 970 stocks were horrid when they came out as well, and they had no "serious problem" with them at all. There were very hard to acquire in the first 2 months of their release, with the 980 costing 550$ and was heavily critiqued for it, and the 330$ and was one of their great successes in the mid range market.

Not really, Pascal wasn't in NVIDIA's plans until 20nm failed.
Pascal is what Maxwell was supposed to be in the first place.

We know this because NVIDIA's slides never mentioned Pascal until the 20nm failure happened, and Pascal was added inbetween Maxwell and Volta.

No, I'm not positive about that, that's what the "If I recall" means that was placed at the beginning. As loler said, I'm basing that off what I remembered from old Nvidia slides on their roadmap.

There wasnt pascal on early nvidia's roadmaps. Then next year pascal was there.
