Looking to buy a new laptop, need recommendations

What is your maximum budget?
1000 euros

What country are you in?
Greece (skroutz.gr), but I can buy from most countries in EU, plus Switzerland. Links have search engines for prices smile.gif

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Certainly not for gaming. Mostly, it will be used for my Master in CS, but I also need a laptop to have with me when traveling. My hobby is photography, so it would be nice to have a good display.

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
Well, preferably I'd like to choose something from Dell, since their after sales service is great in Greece, unlike most other brands.

What screen size do you require?
13.3"-15.6"

What screen resolution do you require?
1920*1080

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
New

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
dunno. it's my first laptop, so I have no idea...

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
No games. Except, maybe, for FM... No, no games at all tongue.gif

What operating system do you need? (if any)
I'll be using Windows and Linux. No need for Windows OS in the package, since I'm covered with the MSDNAA

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
nope

How much hard drive space do you need?
If it comes with a SSD, at least 128GB. If it doesn't come with a SSD, I don't care, since I will upgrade with a SSD the moment I take the laptop
If it has both SATA and M.2 ports, it is a huge plus.

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
A decent webcam would be a plus. but not a decisive factor.

Is there anything else we need to know?
-

I've already found two laptops, not very similar, but well...
Dell Latitude E5550 (i5 5300U, 8GB, 128GB SSD) @ 650€
Dell Inspiron 7559 (i7 6700HQ, 8GB, 1TB) @ 900€

What is your opinion on those two? Any other recommendation?

Thanks in advance for your time and help

Either a macbook pro 13 inch or a Dell XPS 13 inch.

Those are the only two that I know of that have 6 hours or more of battery life while still being able to due the work you need while being light enough.

unfortunately, all those suggestions are way off (20-30%) my budget :/ So I think I could do with a worse battery life
