The 480 drama is deep and the struggle to buy or not to buy is real...

No I don't have a reference, I can't recall where I read or heard it from, sorry. I'm not saying it doesn't pull power, but I just thought I had heard it was within parameters or w/e. I am wrong from time to time (I hope I don't break the internet by saying that)

Anyone still hyped about grabbing an AIB 480?
or are people scared about the power from PCIe concerns.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFuYc2FHgjw

Explains it better, and also would like to mention, this isnt just the 480, its been happening in other cards for ages, just so happens the 480 brought this problem to light and misinformed youtubers are spreading that its ONLY the RX 480.

And the fix, or the main problem is explained here

AIB cards should have no problem. It's only reference card that has 3 phases wired to PCIE and 3 to PEG. Aftermarket cards will have more and 8-pin or 2x 6-pin. I am pretty sure they test their own designs.

I'm hoping 120% you are correct, just hearing two things, and no idea who to trust lol. youtubers are never a good source of "Fact" imho.
hearing this is a Chip problem and cant be fixed while also hearing that with a 8-pin upgrade the problem is fixed. then again the reference wasnt made to be overclocked...but then again, theres nothing there to really stop anyone. (see how I'm even flip flopping)

I heard the AIBs will be out July 7th (when the GTX 1060 is slated to release) so really hope all is fixed with an 8+6 or just a better pcb built from the ground up like MSI and Gigabyte do, I havent gotten a Sapphire since ATI 9600pro =D

also the pics of the Sapphire RX 480, look horrible....shower head, really!? cmon.

They sold thousands by now. Prolly miners. We should have heard of more mobos that caught fire. Have anyone here experienced the issue? Any owners? I heard one who's audio got messed up while going Tri ot Quad "fire" but the mobo had issues in the past.

Anyways, i was gonna get one yesterday here in Bankok and there was one left but it was 10K baht or almost $300. No way. Hoping to find AIB soon. I did see a lot of 1070 and 1080 in the shelves. Did not bother asking for their prices.

Also MB have over current protection. Those MB that burn basically their fail safe was damaged before these cards.

Ya I posted this in the previous post
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFuYc2FHgjw

it points out its not only the RX 480 that does this. It just happens that more eyes were watching RX 480 than the previous cards with similar issues. so Yes the issue is exaggerated.

I was a click away from grabbing two on the 29th but substained as I was had just been waiting for the launch for a whole 2 weeks, GPU-less.
Going to wait just a bit longer, and hope the AIBs show up. almost bought a 1070 at $589.99cad ($458USD) so, just the waiting is killing me, I've never had to wait to buy any PC component like this, ever.
