Will you buy RX 480 at launch? - Page 3

Well, I expect the reviews to be out before or at the moment you can buy them... Given the fact that it is rumored to be around a gtx 980 and consume nearly 3 times less than my R9 290, I am pretty much set on buying one if all of this come out to be true!

If that particular graphic is accurate, it will be the ONLY scenario it''s actually 'true' for ... this ONE GAME, in DX12 mode.

I'd guess this result is a product of DX12 not being compatible with Crossfire/SLI (yet) (hence the 51% utilization ... only one RX480 is running, out of the two) and the advantage AMD has with Asynchronous Compute over NV in DX12. Which basically only this one game is programmed to take advantage of.

Two RX480's in Xfire may regularly compete with a single 1080, but they'll NOT be running at only 51% usage and still keeping up with a 1080 at full bore, mark my words

No, but I may buy 470 at launch, depending on how the Euro handles itself.

Then I'll buy your 290 until Vega or possibly later. tongue.gif

However I may still bite if their overclocked performance proves great and if the possible ~1400MHz barrier turns out non-existent.

Um, it will be lucky to beat a 970 in some cases.... Seriously, the hype with this card is way too high.

That's right, they picked the one game they sponsors and have optimization for.

If heavily OCed AIB cards can somehow get close to Fury X performance for ~$260, then it would be extremely difficult to pass up on that.

But in all reality, that sounds too good to be true.

Not sure if it would be worth it upgrading from a 290x or 390/x to the RX 480 but people like me that's coming from a 7950 it's a great deal for 199.
Getting two, TOMORROW.
I already have(had) R9 390 and 1070 on the way (shipped yesterday)

going to just get the RX 480s to put my Qs about it to the test, and maybe just sell either when one's better. yes, yes, waste of money. but I'm just too excited to see AMD being successful. NV's been dicks too long. same for Intel. all abunchadicks.

I know from exp that 2 cards are NOT better than one, but imo, in games that work. IT WORKS, I'm of the really weird group that likes SLI/CF, to me its like power thats there if I can use it. instead of, its there, I HAVE to use it or its a worthless POS decision.
odd, know.

but cmon, if claims are false. I would rather know I didnt spend as much as a 1080. (main reason I opted for the backup 1070, I dont see how the 1080 is worth its current price if we all know a 1080ti is just going to come out right before Vega does...because thats just how NV's marketing works)
